We weren’t getting extra rewards. We just had the option to do it more times for additional rewards (or, alternatively, the requirement to do it more times, depending on whether or not you used your off spec).
It was actually unfair to multi-role classes before.
Either way, all rank 3 essences should be available to everyone via vendor, regardless of whether or not another character has earned them.
And now they trade it out for farming echoes?.. They’re still grinding so why are you upset about it? Like honestly?
You were… You did that content anyway just as many times as any pure DPS… You didn’t do it more times than pure DPS. So you did get those extra rewards.
Echoes is trading for the earning of rep. That actual purchase just isn’t being accounted for.

Unless you didn’t do it that many times. Not everyone did.
Even if you did, you still had to wait longer to play your offspecs optimally.
A pure DPS only had to full clear H EP three times to get their BiS essence for all specs. I had to do it six times.
It was biased against multi-role classes originally. This is inarguable.
The fact that it worked out in our favor over a year later isn’t relevant to the fact that it was bad before. Nor does it make it excusable that Blizzard messed this up now. Both things are bad. Blizzard screwed up in all of the ways.
I mean…yeah? Isn’t that the point of all this? You did it once so you don’t have to do it again provided you have the currency? That’s the whole point of the system
Sure I can get the BG achievements again on another character, I’ll be playing as DPS anyway because no one will ever willingly take a tank to a PvP Island Expo (which is surprisingly cutthroat)and unless you’re loaded down with % HP corruptions not really great in PvP, I’ll just switch back to tank before picking up the reward
…I didn’t accomplish anything special, I didn’t do anything tank specific, I just had the option to swap to a different spec, I did the same thing the exact same way just so I could receive a variant of an essence that I could not acquire

I’ve done 7 full HC and 7 full mythic Eternal Palace clears on my main hunter, yet I didn’t get a single tank/healer essence unlocked from this raid for my alts. So I did more than you, yet received much less… Just because I play pure DPS… This is unfair.

I mean is it though? Because I feel like you are upset about the crate thing, crates are a currency, echoes are a currency. Boom. Seems like a fair trade off to me.

Forcing me to do extra runs to make Ret or Holy viable isn’t “extra rewards”. It’s “extra work”.
Screwing single-role classes isn’t ok now just because they screwed multi-role classes before.
Echoes are a way of allowing people to earn these in other ways. That is all.
Those crates are used to make feast which I can sell for 7k - if I didn’t have to use those crates to buy essences for another role I could have made good use of them.
You didn’t do extra runs/work because you are pala. You did that anyway, because content was current and you needed gear from this content. By doing that content you were passively getting extra rewards that pure DPS didn’t get. This is unfair.

Hmmm, so it’s fair to assume that DPS players were also farming out these crates? Even though they didn’t get essences from them?

No I didn’t. It didn’t take me six weeks of clearing to get the one item that wasn’t acquirable outside of raid (the weapon with a use effect).
M+ gave better gear and Titanforging meant no specific content was giving across-the-board better item level.
It was simply more required runs to get the essences for off spec.
You can’t know why people did anything.
It is the end of the expansion, they should just unlock the essences for every role that can use it. The system is dead anyways, it’s not going forward into SLs and this is basically the same process they did at the end of Legion with legendary items and it’s currency.
But for the love of god, you DPS need to stop acting like there is some secret cabal at Blizzard just thinking up ways to screw you over…
