Please don’t remove Hunter pets

Why add a bunch of redundant things when you can remove the place holder pet and just bake abilities in?

I just want to know how just having a pet goldish existing in a bowl on your desk defines the entire class/spec.

Why give players a choice instead of railroading them? I dunno, because class fantasy should still have a seat at the table instead of focusing solely on group content.

I use my pet every day when I solo or do delves.

The game does not revolve around Mythic+ and Raiding. Thanks.

Its their game.
And how are you being railroaded?

The pet literally existed. It wasn’t part of your rotation or abilities.
You HAD to have one because hero. Otherwise most ran lone wolf.

Isn’t that what they are doing?
Removing the pet makes it more of a sniper/marksman lol.
What sniper do you know that sends their pet into battle?

Imagine having to have a pet, in a pet class, to use pet abilities.

Are you seriously asking that question? Do you even know what they’re doing with MM?

That’s because I’m MM. not BM.

And I’ve offered solutions. You lot don’t care about solutions. You don’t care about the changes. All you are here to do is dump on people who care about the spec as it currently exists. That’s it. Just a bunch of hateful peanut gallery rejects who only pop up whenever Blizzard does something unpopular.

What makes mm a pet class?

Just a pet existing =/= a pet class. Point me at a spell and ability that ties it into the spec.

Source required.

Ps,: even if there was only 1000 people who didn’t use lone wolf, they still deserve to not have their class fantasy ripped out from under them after 20 years.

Also, it’s really not that hard to understand very few people would be against these changes if we could still summon the pet when we want to, even if it disabled the eagle. But they were very clear we will not be able to use the pets at all anymore.

Pets serve a vital role while soloing and in PvP, and a lot of us are attached to pets we’ve had 20+ years we suddenly won’t have access to anymore.

Hunters are quite literally designed to take more damage because our pets take most of the damage. Yet they have not mentioned a single increase to marksman survivability to account for the loss of our pocket tank.

Hunter, The class you are that has the Specialization of Marksmanship, is a Pet class.

Also the 8 abilities on the General Hunter tree are waving hello.

Imagine if Blizzard gave you a choice by making the DPS output of a pet and a lone hunter the same.

Oh I know. But do you know?

It seems like a lot of outrage because their gold fish is being removed.

How does that make mm a pet class then? If it has zero part of your actual play.

Make it make sense.

I like solutions. When they are actual solutions.
Not things that are going to further convolute specs.

And I absolutely care about these changes. For the first time in years, I’m actually excited to play mm. They changed A LOT more than just /removing the pet and adding mortal strikes.
Did you even read the patch notes?

But I guess it’s easier to call people shills when you get push back rofl. This isn’t your personal echo chamber.

I unsubbed over this.

  • Fixing Lone Wolf so you gain hero and pet utility without pet management, good

  • Getting rid of a open world and leveling tank option for MM, unacceptable

  • Getting rid of pet identity, a pet that players found, chose, and traveled with for years and replacing it with a generic bird? Completely unacceptable

  • Turning the “lone wolf” into “actually you have a permanent follower”, completely tone deaf

The only way this makes since is they are trying to clear the petless sniper fantasy deck for Tinker. Then they let the interns who are younger than some of the pets they are killing off come up with the world’s dumbest solution.

I don’t want an eagle. My gnome MM has a bumble bee named Honeybuns for a reason. It doesn’t matter if it’s a good reason and I shouldn’t have to change specs just to keep her.

How did they workshop all of these great QOL improvements and not say “let’s put these into Lone Wolf so we can have all these upsides without alienating every casual that plays Hunter?”

Show me how it is a pet class then.

Just saying a thing is a thing doesn’t make it the thing.
Blood and frost dks aren’t a pet class because they can summon ghouls.

Let me use my pet, the same pet I’ve had for the past 17 years, and I’m fine with everything else.

Thats my point of contention. I want my pet, the very same pet I’ve had for the past 17 years. Having my pet, replaced with general EAgle #7 that won’t even show up unless its procced isn’t a pet. It’s just a murder of crows passive.

You mean like the 2 class tree abilities that require a pet to use? (One can be specced so it doesnt require a pet, but that costs marksman an extra talent point.) Or how about the 2 class tree abilities that also affect your pet?

How about the class tree passives that are pet specific such as:

Or how about the baseline skill that used to get a buff if you were using Lone Wolf, but now just straight up has the same heal even without a pet, despite the fact it also heals your pet for 100%?

How about the Play Dead skill which only works on with a pet:

You know you are being darn disingenuous.

Your personal want doesn’t make it a pet class.

That still doesn’t make it a pet class.

Reinstall your game so that you can fix whatever is stopping you from summoning your pet.

You’re right, the plethora of talents and baseline skills I linked do. Hope that helps!

They’re not snipers and they never have been. They’re Rangers. Think Alleria, Sylvanas etc.

Their focus is primarily archery, which can INCLUDE sniping, but doesn’t exclusively revolve around it.

A marksman is still a hunter. They still rely on traps, tracking etc and sometimes yes, pets.

A specialization does not mean you can only do one thing, its exactly what the name implies. It’s what you SPECIALIZE in.

A restoration druid specializes in healing magic and can do it better than other druids, but a feral and guardian can still use magic too.

A beast mastery hunter specializes in taming and commanding beasts, but other hunters can do this too, they are just not as good at it.

A marksman hunter specializes in using ranged weapons. That’s it.
