Please don’t remove Hunter pets

I simply don’t agree. Hunter is a naturalist. Even the act of hunting explicitly implies animals. i.e. hunting animals in the wild. Etc.

So is a ranger.

You can hunt people too. Ever heard of headhunters?

You don’t have a tame humanoid ability on Hunter last I checked. Or “Human Lore”

Pets help with hunting. They are not prey.

Have you even played the hunter class hall campaign? It was all about hunting a demon.

Let’s just use real life for an example. You have hunters that hunt prey with an animal companion for things like birds and small game. Then you have hunters who hunt for deer and larger animals who absolutely wouldn’t use a companion animal to hunt, as it would likely scare the prey off.

We kill all manner of people in the world regardless of class. Hunting is a specific art, usually implies killing animals to eat them or use their pelts. People in the real world use bloodhounds and such to help them hunt.

Correct from a lore standpoint a Ranger is it own thing and could be matched with many classes. A warrior could be a Ranger as well. End all be all a Ranger should be it’s own class. No Marksman is a marks…man…they don’t have to be loners or snipers or rangers. BM most dmg should be from pet, MM most dmg should be from ranged weapon, SV you have a greater chance at surviving. All are hunters and hunters have pets. They screwed with SV years ago and I did not speak up enough. Now as they try to take MM away this is the line in the sand. Anyone who tries to support this change is the enemy and should be treated as such.

Trying to bash the ranger fantasy, which has been part of the hunter class since the start and finally supported 10 years ago, won’t help you keep your pets.

We actually also love the Ranger fantasy. Many of us here think it deserves its own distinct class. Who knows if that would ever happen. But in the meantime, we don’t think it’s right to throw away pets from a spec that always had the option to use them regardless of how meta it was to use a pet.

If Ranger was a separate class I would go along with it.

I would state that by trying to get Ranger it’s own class… I’m actually trying to support it more than trying to fit it into another classes fantasy and only being provided the 1 spec option to attempt to fulfill it at the detriment to the players who do love their current pets in the current class.

Yep. People on here saying “we’re bashing Ranger being a Hunter fantasy” when we really would be better served with two classes using ranged weapons anyway. These people would be on the first flight to Ranger town if that ever actually became a separate class too.

You know that’s not happening, and even if they made another ranged weapons class it would be so far apart from Hunter that Ranger would remain under Hunter’s umbrella.

I think you just need to admit that it has nothing to do with being a ranger.

You just want to be a hunter that isn’t “hindered” by not having a pet in a pet class.

Which again, totally goes against the classes fantasy.

I don’t think it would have to be. The magical ranged DPS casters are all relatively similar to each other in playstyle and we are cool with that. Shadow Priest has been called “the poor man’s Affliction Warlock” for years. They also could completely modernize Ranger as a class to play on par with the creativity Evoker brought to the classes mechanically. I’d move Dark Ranger out of Hunter and into Ranger for hero talents as well.

Wishful thinking of course. Just saying it’s not IMPOSSIBLE.

If Ranger is going to be stuck into Hunter is has to play by the Hunter rules. They could make a fourth spec and really go to town if they want. MM does not have to mean Ranger. Is there a single MM rifle user in WoW that is even a Ranger in lore?

Whenever I think of gun users I think of Dwarf Hunters and Gnome Tinkers.

Blizzard makes the hunters rules. The ones rebelling against them are you. You don’t get to dictate what is a hunter.

But we do get to criticize and say it is stupid.

Isn’t that technically what you’re doing by telling us we can’t have pets anymore? Blizzard is going to do this rework in 11.1 whether we like it or not, but it doesn’t mean we all have to be happy about it.
