It didn’t last long because they decided to give you an option. They now arrived at a point in which that option clashes with the spec’s strengths.
They created the option first. Then they tried going petless, then they brought back the option. That’s what actually happened.

And just like before, when you remove the option, you will get backlash.
It’s only a matter of time until they either revert this change, or in the Shadowlands mentality they push thru with it until such a point they are again forced to provide the option.

I don’t care if the some random guy in the wiki decided to narrow ranger to only Nathanos and Farstriders. It’s not even an official classification.
Those specs suck and are not fun to play. MM is fun to play. Dont take away from others just because you dont want it.

You are all bashing on rangers and Lone Wolf because you are losing an option that was barely supported. Don’t come with “at the cost of others enjoyment” to me. It’s very clear that most of you would be happy if Lone Wolf went away.
Too much QQ over something 80% of people just used as a meat shield. it’s been long overdue this change i can’t have my hunter stalk prey from a tree if i have a big 4ss cat trying to climb and stay quiet beside me.
As for the Eagle as long as it’s something like a mini eagle floating around and Swoops in full size from the sky whenever it procs im okay with it

You have been boldly told to your face over and over most people here are fine with Lone Wolf and want it to be actually balanced. I don’t know how to help you. You have to either think we’re all just lying or really do not have reading comprehension skills.
Draenei were in a alt timeline that is now gone. Trolls do not have rangers. If you don’t care what official lore is then go play a ranged class that has no pets. You choose to play hunter a pet class. You must be a karen in real life? Walking into a clothing store and demanding a cheeseburger…
Rangers don’t need to be called rangers in order to fit the ranger fantasy. Rangers patrol the wilderness and attack from range, that’s all there’s to it, and every race has its own scouts of whatever that fit.
Will you remove Tauren paladins because they are “Sunwalkers” and not “paladins”?
(Also, Rangari exist in the main timeline)
Every class in the game patrols the wilderness. Rangers and Hunters don’t automatically have ownership of the wilds. Shaman and Druids are far more in tune to the natural world than Hunters are. Rogues fill much more of the “scout” fantasy in WoW and in most other games. What’s your point?

90% of named hunter characters don’t have pets. And a lot of them are also called rangers.
