Of course not. If that were important, this wouldn’t have just become an issue.
I spend 95% of my time outside of group content. That’s when I pull out my cat. I don’t even bother re-speccing out of LW most of the time because 5% doesn’t matter in Delves or other solo content.
They should make a Ranger class with 2 or 3 distinct specs within it. It would be a second class that uses bows and guns. And also unshackled from pets. Then let Marksmanship play with pets like it’s been doing for 20 years. (unless you opted for Lone Wolf).
True who knows WHEN they could ever make a new class, but it would certainly solve a lot of contention between the two types of hunter/ranger player now wouldn’t it.
Most hunter lore character have no pet. What’s Alleria’s pet? Vereesa’s? Shandris’? Lor’themar’s? Halduron’s?
You are saying the same thing people said about melee Survival: “hunters are ranged!”, and yet Rexxar, one of the most iconic hunter characters, is melee. Don’t force your narrow concept of “hunter” onto everyone.
If the requests were made to have this change potentially reverted off the Marksmen Hunter, and instead development started on a Ranger Class, It would 100% fit with the aesthetics of Midnight being centered around Silvermoon.
That’s because Hunter was the only analogue we had for a bow user in Legion. If they split the rangers and hunters up today, there’s no reason both bow/gun user classes couldn’t co-mingle still like in the class halls.
No it wasn’t. Hunters are a very Night Elf and Tauren derived class imo originally. Super into nature and the wilds, and animals and pets. Naturalists.
They have evolved to encompass rangers because Hunter is the only class even slightly similar.
