I misread it.
End of the day you still have the eagle.
These are good changes for spec moving forward.

A generic stand in that we have no connection to. Not even the token effort of making it a race specific animal. Eagle is great for tauren hunters. Not so much everyone else. Like I said in an earlier post, there’s no reason they can’t just have this proposed changes for the spec work with our current pets.
No they aren’t. They’re expressly not using a pet. The eagle is a non-interactive object that is tied to specific abilities, it’s just like the sentinel hero tree’s owl. Basically, it’s just part of the abilities’ visual effects
Balancing changes as they are removing lone wolf.
There’s a reason the vast majority of MM
Hunters don’t use a pet.
No they’re not man. I have no idea why you have to be the one to step up and make the claim that removing a core mechanic that existed ever since Vanilla is better for the longevity of the game.
There is too much being removed if they follow through with this. “No fun allowed”.
No what I mean is my marksman hunter uses a robot chicken as a pet.
She would not have an eagle as a pet. Even if it is immaterial graphical flair that is still not something she’d do.
If you want pets there are 2 other specs that specialize in them. MM has been the go to petless spec for years, and frankly they should have made Lone Wolf baseline years ago
The real kicker is that there’s no longer a ranged option for non-exotic pets. Maybe they’ll fix that along with being able to change pet specializations, and let us turn any pet into an exotic, so BM won’t be limited in that regard
And yet in the beginning of the game, having a pet was an optional mechanic (that people still chose to activate btw) that hardly anyone complained about since Vanilla for years.
If YOU want to go Lone Wolf, there is absolutely nothing stopping you from dismissing your pet.
I am not sure if I would quit playing my mm or switch to BM, but I will not play hunter without a pet.
I expressed earlier in the topic that I wish there was a petless ranger class.
That’s what I mean when I say that this is the worst of both worlds. Having an immaterial eagle pleases neither party because the pro-pet loses the pet functionality and ability to select the pet they want. The anti-pet crowd is still forced to use a pet.
IMO to compensate they should make the eagle customizable and FRIGGEN SICK. People will still understandably be upset, but it will make it better.
Also give the eagle some lore or something so people can connect to the spec - and offer eagle alternatives, I’ve already seen goblin Hunters upset because eagles jive more with certain races than others.
Asks for a medium rare steak. Get well done.
“Don’t worry they’re better anyway.”
???
has the anti pet crowd been paying subs since 2004?
A gross oversimplification. Terrible analogy friend, I’m trying to have constructive conversation.
Me too man. I’m trying to have a constructive conversation that’ll perhaps make a better outcome despite it’ll make most upset.
But that’s okay, right?
What does that have to do with anything? Class design in Vanilla is entirely different from class design now
If frost lost there pet so can mm it’s only fair .
The idea of having a specific pre-defined pet for hunter abilities while ignoring the entire stable of bonded pets seems like a very odd choice.
It’s the Water Elemental change all over again, but kinda worse.
Hit the “N” button.
Click the Specialization Tab.
Click on the “Beast Mastery” tab.
Problem solved.
