I never said it wasn’t creative. It’s the fact that they will actively remove agency while telling us things like the new Dragonflight talent trees are going to give us so much choice and customization. Meanwhile, everyone carbon copies each other’s builds, and no one is actually creative ever. Yes that is partly a playerbase issue, but things like removing pets on the whole don’t sit well with me. It’s hyper optimization and removing player agency.
If enough people complain they will walk it back or alter it some way to meet in the middle, look at what happened with the Ascendance form for shaman.
The solution already exists. Play BM or Survival
Are people still yap, yap, yaping about player choice AFTER COVENANTS?
If your so tired, retire alreadly.
I’m confused. Are you saying we should go back to less choice?
They do use them, and as I pointed out in the other thread, are told to run them in solo content by online guides.
The only people complaining are the minority.
This is one of the most requested changes for MM hunters since legion.
People have always followed the meta, this isn’t a new thing.
Hence why MM hunters already don’t use their pets and don’t want to use their pets in most content.
Personally all cards in the table for realz.
I would remove talents entirely for having more finer tuned specs and have players swap around specs for different encounters.
How many of these forced meta players would use a pet if the DPS was on par, and the utility was smooth and without issues like “summon/de-summon” for lust? I’d bet you there’s a huge silent group of people that would use the pet.
Im not concerned with if it’s the minority complaining or not, though, because that isn’t verifiable or relevant to what I said.
I have never seen anyone say “marksman really needs a bird mechanic” but then again, I can just make stuff up too.
Sorry, Snoz. Citation needed on that one.
I don’t care as much about this change as I’m sure some people here do, but I can’t imagine anyone actually asked for Lone Wolf to be forced in any significant volume.
At most I can imagine some people thought Lone Wolf is an annoying talent node. Not exactly representative of the point here.
To be fair that is true. Queue rune of power and momentum.
If the dps was equal between using LW and not, most players would rather have agency over their damage themselves than shelving tons of it to their pets where they personally don’t feel the impact of using abilities.
MM in PvP have to use their pet because of all the utility they provide to PvP, and STILL MM’s will sometimes not run the pet at low crs, because they hate having to.
Like you keep bringing up this vocal minority of people who just love their pets on MM, but then completely ignore the PvP MM community that have been ignored for decades now that don’t want to use their pets because it counters your argument of virtue and agency.
People have said seperate the utility from the pet forever so both can have what they want. What about that?
I’m sorry I just don’t agree. Players love pets. Hunters are one of the highest played classes in this game for a reason. Pets offer a unique way to express yourself in game outside of transmog, and that actually does matter to people.
If Lone Wolf was truly an option, and Blizzard made it functionally usable in the common day, there would be a near even split between “Hunter” players and “Archer/Ranger” players in the data.
I too like to pull numbers out of my butt.
Players love their pets, that’s why they don’t use them in most PvE content 90% of the time, if PvE’ers loved their pets on MM majority would still use them regardless of Lonewolf because yanno the majority of the community aren’t the top 10% of M+ and raiders. Also, most PvP MM hunters would rather have their defensive, utility, and stuns casted by their character and not their pet for obvious reasons, I’ve already coved above.
And what data, your entire argument has been based on subjective anecdote, just personal opinions, like well you like MM having pets and so does a few select other people in the forums who want it for open world purposes or customization purposes. But ignore the customization purposes of those who don’t want the pet, I guess.
I think the current state of MM hunters not using their pets already, disproves that they want to have to control a clunky antiquated pet system just because they get to see their beloved pet, Snuggles the Sabertooth stand in one place and auto attack a mob.
It’s a generalized statement, not a literal statistic. I’m using class guides and basic reasoning to find that a majority of MM hunters don’t use their pets to begin with. The numbers aren’t a literal statistic found from a Harvard study, sorry.
