The issue is the class is tuned around both LW and not having LW and it’s causing MM to bot be viable.
It’s easier to tune a class and make them viable with out having to tune both pet and no pet

That’s exactly what this change is doing.
Players have asked for MM to be petless for decades now… Just because you say they haven’t doesn’t make it true.
Hunters having a pet has been the iconic portion of this class since its onset, without a pet… It’s not a hunter.
If the Lone Wolf Ability is causing such a strife that the go to option is the Nuclear option of “Remove all pets” then it 100% should not go thru at all. A Player, as a hunter, should always have the agency regardless of spec which Pet they would like to have.
If they want to have a class that is akin to the hunter, without a pet, then they need to create it. Make a Gunner class. But Don’t remove the iconic portion of a Class, to satisfy a niche.
Oof, looks like MM just lost 1/2 their invites now, no lust no invite lol
They have lust still, it’s in the player (eagle) personal tool kit now, not the pets.
No it isn’t for several reasons, current water elemental is just more dps more akin to fire elemental. The eagle still gets to use the utility talents of having a pet.
Warlocks be laughing with their option.
No it doesn’t, it’s like fighting to return Frost to DW only.
Warlocks need their demons its ircon…frost mages need elements its ic…
Huh… maybe range specs not based around pets dont work…
You come so close…
And you don’t make any solid points, namely any that justify removing core identity from a class.
Ahh, I thumb wheeled right past that dot, thanks for pointing it out…
That’s one hecka take. Sure.
You know what… Hunters, you’re being rebranded now into a Gunner Class and we’re removing all your pets.
Warlocks, Welp… You’re just now Shadow Mages and can no longer summon demons.
And Well Mages… Yeah, you just wont get the Water elemental no more. Jaina will still have it, because well, that’s her stick… but anyone else… Yeah no.
Incase the sarcasm wasn’t sensed.
Removing Iconic things from a class because “I don’t like pets” Isn’t a reason. It should have never started with Marksmanship. It started off as a niche for those who didn’t want pets, and morphed over time into the horrible thing it is now of being “Mandatory” for those in group content.
Really none?
Pointing out how its worked for other range specs and why they had to shed their pet or have it be a proc like frost isn’t a point at all
Rrreeeeeaaaaalllllyyyyy???
I legit don’t if this is sarcasm or if you really dont know how frost and destruction work.
I plead Poe’s law.
So every MM is just going to be a shooter with an eagle now? How is that flavor? That’s just limiting the spec to their singular vision of what a marksman is. If you acknowledge marksman using spotting eagles, then why take away the ability to use other pets?
The MM will still have all the utility, abilities, etc. Nothing is going away, you’re just not dealing with a clunky two-decade old pet system anymore with bad pathing, bad AI, and bad response times.
And guess what you still have a pet; it’s just not controlled the same as other pets in game. It’s called experimenting with a new system for pets after two decades of neglect.
Give them time, with the new system I’m sure they’ll implement glyphs or something that will give MM the ability to have other pet skins for this new system.
You should probably read the notes.
They will be able to use pet abilities via the “eagle” and don’t have to summon lust and then dismiss.
Something I said, save for having an actual pet helping you.
Except for the companions people have made and being forced to take the eagle that hides off screen.
The eagle plays a part in various abilities that a normal pet can’t, and the hunter’s own abilities can be better flavored to one specific identity instead of having to ensure whatever they’re doing can be done both with a pet and without one. Using your own example of the hunter’s pet holding the target down so the hunter can aim a good shot, how would they design that concept in such a way that can be done both with a pet and without one?
So restoration shaman being a ranged healer that uses totems isn’t “limiting”? Protection Warrior being a sword and shield tank isn’t “limiting”?
Because they’re used in an entirely different way. The MM eagle isn’t going to be a pet the same way a BM and Survival pet is, it’s going to be a non-interactable object that is tied to spell effects, the same way Sentinel’s owl is now
