The way pets have worked with MM since Warlords, it’s either been a deceptive wrong choice, an anti-combo, or both.
Neither of those are things I want as a feature of a spec that I play.

Then don’t use YOUR pets, but do not seek to take them from others. You can just use lone wolf and ignore the tame pet button
This is certainly your take. I found tons of purposes having a pet beside me while I gun my targets down.
That’s less helpful than you seem to think telling you to play BM is.
Yet more rediculous when you side with the decision of removing MM Hunter pets.
Why? You don’t want your pets around. You already made that clear. Why you want to force others to not have them too is just selfish.
The pet is still an anti-combo.
It’s still a choice where one path is just wrong.
bad design is still bad design.
Only you think it is a bad design to have pets. Those of us who like pets don’t agree.
I’m not “asking” for anything, I’m saying the fantasy “shooter with a single pet” is preserved in BM.
Yes, the pet will do a lot of your damage, but you can make a build that gives the Hunter more time pew-pewing targets in contrast to managing pets.
I’m not a BM fan, and I never got interest in Survival until it became melee. But currently if the objective is to have a single pet or to make a Hunter a bit more akin to old Survival’s mobile shooting, BM will have the best kit for that.
Stop feeding the people who live on the forums 24/7. When they have more posts than achievements, that’s REALLY telling how they play the game they pay, just to troll on here.
Actually it’s the math that shows how inferior having a pet is for MM
Those of you who like pets have very little knowledge of the spec.
Noone cares about your performance. Go away troll
They are trolls hiding on alts.
When you talk about subjects you know nothing about you’re a troll.
Ian do the people who don’t do trivial content care about our performance.
Just because you don’t care and you don’t play non trivial content and you can’t refute valid data doesn’t make me a troll.
So we’ll answer more bad design with even MORE bad design! That should show them, right?!
Hell yeah! What could possibly go wrong?!
It’s funny that when Lone Wolf came out it was also available for Survival (still ranged back then). Lone Wolf immediately became the favorite option for both specs, with Lone Wolf Survival being even more popular because it had no casting skills (MM could cast Aimed Shot on the move back then, so mobility wasn’t so far behind).
The thing with the pet is that having an AI minion has its drawbacks. The pet exists to give the class identity, but once you shift most of your kit to the hunter the pet starts being a nuisance.
BM has the usual pet problems, but its flavor is entirely based on the pet and it also has a kit to minimize the problems.
Survival would probably have pressure from the player base to go Lone Wolf if it remained ranged. Making it melee gave it a niche, and particularly I feel way more invested in the pet when I’m fighting side-by-side with it than when I’m sending it 40 yards away to bite a target’s behind.
We’ll solve the bad mechanics design by fixing the mechanics design.
If it happens at the expense of RP, so be it.
Well, bad news for you. You’re not the one to dictate how others play the game.
So far this proposed change has been extremely negative. If you’re deciding to be this naive, I have no idea what to tell you other than you’d make a horrible game developer.
not what I do in world content - I aoe farm mobs for skinning and even with a pet if I am not careful I will die.
You go and try and kill 10 of those crabs near the starting area in one pull without a pet. They reduce your armor to nothing and then kill you.
So how’d your crusade about the Frost mage elemental go for you?
