I’m all for challenging content. I’ve done every season of Brawler’s guild. I completed the Mage Tower the first raid tier in Legion. Pandaria challenge mode dungeons. On and on and on.
They advertised Delves as a SOLO alternative system of gear progression. I was running a 8 Waterworks and the rare spawn mushroom cast an ability called Fungal Bloom that is uninterruptable, has infinite range, and killed me from full health in literally .3 seconds. As an Evoker, how do I counterplay that? I can’t AMS it, bubble it, etc. If I want to spontaneously die without knowing what did it and how to counterplay it, I’ll go play POE.
Tier 8 completion should be accessible to every class, every spec, every person playing. I have no problem with the challenge OP is looking for being in 9+. I think that’s what the intent is anyways, but that’s not how it is in practice.
Yes, they were advertised as solo content. But it has Tiers… which represent difficultly levels. So if someone can’t do an 8, they can try a 7, or 6, so on and so forth…
It doesn’t make it not solo content. It just means you either need to work on your gear more, or skill more, or try different tactics…
The real issue is the ilvl increase tied to 8’s make them desirable and not being able to do them puts you at a disadvantage. People are frustrated that some classes can solo 8’s with very little challenge, while others can’t at all or take 4x as long. When you can switch alts and the same instance goes from impossible to trivial, you know there’s a flaw in the system.
I did a 10 this week and got a sword as a reward. I think I was ivll 566 when I ran it. Man it was tough but made me really have to try hard. I thought it was great.
If these were easy, as Torghast became, I would 100% not do them.
Every player would also love to do M+ 10’s this week and/or kill a bunch of Mythic Raid Bosses but not all of us can and that’s fine for an end game prog system.
I agree with this 1000%. I’m an 80% filthy casual and I’m liking delves so far. I’ve completed T5 on my 571 ret but couldn’t complete a T6 Skittering (got spouse aggro after resetting 4 times) just couldn’t quite get the boss down with all the AOE/unavoidable damage. But I’ll get him next time after a couple gear upgrades and maybe some enchants. These things will last all season for me and my alt army. And that’s a good thing!!
But this highlights the problem even more though no? You’re claiming to have completed a Tier 10 delve while being almost 40 ilvls below the recommended item level.
How does that not scream class imbalance? Go do that on a holy priest and tell me how it goes.
Is it upsetting that I used my Class as a whole? I was having an issue as a Frost DK, so I went Blood, sacrificed some damage to survive, and moved on. Or if an ability was more helpful, I’d grab a talent for something.
I did the same thing. There are a number of “PVP” talents in the Trees that I find really help to solo Delves. Most of the Guides just use a M+ spec and I think that’s a mistake.
Maybe true, I can’t speak for others. I really only play this character and I really like Blood. There’s not much I’m good at but soloing so this seems right up my alley. And I get yelled at when I join solo shuffle.
All I’m saying is it was fun content right now. Just one player’s perspective.
