I have had so much more fun playing in Delves than I’ve had in a long time. I have been forced to play in a way that makes me use my brain. I’ve had to use Line of Sight, CC, Kiting, Interrupts, and sometimes just relying on my partner (Bran) to get me through it. I’ve even had to change specs or talents inside for just a couple pulls.
I do understand it’s harder for some classes and easier for others. My Blood DK definitely has the easier time than my Hunter or Monk. With that said, if you cater to the classes that don’t solo well, you’ll make it too easy and uninteresting, people will stop doing them because they are fun and only do them because they have to. Don’t make it Torghast 2.0.
I am curious why we are able to do up to a Tier 11, and the rewards aren’t any better though. If someone takes the time to grind through the hard ones, I would think they’d be rewarded a higher ilvl. Maybe this is a future thing.
Everyone will have their own opinion, this is just mine.
Also, This is not about group Delves, I have no input there. I mostly play alone as I have lost contact with people I used to play with years ago.
Sometimes there need to be some nerfs to balance out the field.
I think it’s the right decision to orientate on weaker classes for balancing fixes. If 8’s for the vault get too easy for you, you can still select a much higher difficulty to get the same loot.
Yeah Solo delves are a ton of fun right now and present an actual challenge where the game almost feels completely different. More like a God of War style game as opposed to MMO. Its been a lot of fun. I agree that they should not nerf them as long as they arent bugged.
Kinda wild you just said acknowledged that some classes and specs have a hard timer in delves, that thing marketed as being a solo alternative to raiding and mythic plus, but then advocates for them not fixing it and making it a consistent experience for everyone.
As long as you’re having fun, I guess it doesn’t matter if anyone else is or isn’t.
Yeah, that nerf to torghast early on did sap some of the potential out of the system, although all they really needed to do was make it not be mandatory for power, and instead optional side content for cosmetics.
Thank you for your comment. I hear you. I don’t feel that it’s “wild” though. You are entitled to your opinion as well.
I agree with you that all classes should be able to do the Delves. That being said, I believe (and I may be wrong) that Tier 8 or 9 recommends 610 ilvl to complete. Maybe your/their class can solo it when your item level gets closer or meets the recommendation.
Some classes will always be better at solo content, some will be better at support, healing, group content, AOE, etc… Some are better at sneaking around to complete objectives and don’t have to fight all the mobs. I don’t feel like the game would be very fun if we were all basically the same class with same abilities or capabilities in situations but with different aesthetics.
My spec (Survival) isn’t well received by a lot of people. Though it’s gotten better. That doesn’t feel “fair” either. For a long time it was bottom DPS, but I played it anyways, because that’s what’s fun to me. I guess I just don’t expect every class to be equally good in every category.
Tier 9+ is only for vanity that’s why. Those are the challenge modes and the Zekvir fight which give you some rewards for doing them that are cosmetic in nature to show off.
My problem with delves is I’m maining mage and most bosses and elites are immune to roots and snares. Am I supposed to tank with my face as a mage? This is like making melee fight flying ranged mobs.
It doesn’t feel like it’s actually solo content. Blood DKs have always been able to solo 5 player dungeons, it doesn’t mean it’s solo content. If I can’t kite bosses as a mage, it’s not solo content.
The higher end delves give heroic (raid) gear so they should be very hard. But its obvious that some classes suck at solo delves and it should be balanced in a way where it helps them without making it easier for the already good classes.
That’s why there are Tiers. If 8’s are too hard for you, maybe try a 7 instead until your gear is better or you are able to complete an 8.
If they make 8’s easier, then people will complain 9’s are too hard, then eventually nerf those, then 10’s. Where do you draw the line? When everything is unchallenging and not fun anymore. People will lose interest.
I’ve been thoroughly enjoying Delves. I haven’t pushed past t8 yet. I might after Vault, but it’s been a blast on the classes I’ve taken to t8.
Fury Warrior, Frost Mage, Guardian Druid (very slow), Ret Pally.
Surprisingly I’ve found Frost Mage to be the most enjoyable to do delves with. I can complete it the fastest with it and I get a challenge worthy of using my entire kit. I don’t PvP, so this hardly ever happens lol.
I’ve been having a lot of fun with Delves so far, but I just wish there was a better way to make them challenging without the ‘challenge’ being a straight stat check (auto attacks chunking for 50% hp, massive unavoidable damage, HP sponge enemies).
I’d rather see more avoidable mechanics that you need to dodge, interactable spells/effects (something like a pool you need to soak to prevent a big AoE or to clear a debuff etc.)
I’m cool with getting 1-2 shot if there is something I can do about it, but it just feels like a cop out when it’s a stat check.
This would also make them stay interesting for longer, because dealing with mechanics make it harder to simply outgear and faceroll.
So I don’t deserve better gear because the game is balanced to have hits bigger than my ilvl 600 health bar and my class has a single interrupt on an over a minute CD? We shpuld give players more reason to play less classes?
I don’t play a Mage, so I can’t answer that. I can tell you that the first higher end Delves and Zekvir I saw soloed (YouTube) were by an Arcane Mage.
I know one of the bosses nuked my Monk with curse of agony and it eventually killed me. I couldn’t heal enough. I did a couple lower Delves and got my ilvl up and went back and was able to kill him. That was satisfying.
I know not everyone will agree with my opinion. But such is life.
