This is a mode that they specifically advertised as being for solo players, which has different expectations than the regular gameplay where one class’s weaknesses can be covered by another. If you intend to make a single-player experience, then you’re generally expected to account for players of all classes/specs, just like Brawler’s Guild and Mage Tower did.
Can someone link me the blue post saying that all players of all skill levels will be able to fully gear their characters with the highest gear available already in 1 week? I seem to be missing that but that seems to be what the forum complainers want. Why is progression not acceptable?
I’m clearing tier 8s on two characters both well under the recommended ilvl (580/584), and doing tier 7s on three ilvl 570s toons (again, well below recommended ilvl).
These provide a fantastic, thrilling, nerve-inducing challenge, while also providing me an alternative method to the mind-numbing mythic “go go go” race/treadmill. I have to carefully plan out my pulls, movement strategy, Def CDs. I want to note that even though I’ve cleared 12+ tier 7/8 delves post nerf on 5 toons, I’ve never failed. Not once, and I’m a keyboard clicker too (avg player at best).
I actually like that I have future delve content to climb (tier 9/10), I’m getting heroic raid level gear, and it’s been an awesome (and sometimes stressful) challenge. I LOVE DELVES with current difficulty, and it SHOULD be this way.
I dunno, almost ever elite I’ve fought is just immune to all my slows after the basic 3 levels. I’m tinking specifically of that big fungarian boss that covers the floor in green stuff. It was 100% impossible to keep it off me, it was faster than me and can’t be slowed, rooted or knocked back. Most bosses have phases where they don’t chase you that you can use to build some distance, but unavoidable damage is really bad for mage. 100% dependent on the ability to use… I forget the name, the ability that teleport you back to where you blinked from to self heal. I’ve also run into a number of other elites other than bosse that are immune to snares.
Normal mobs are not a problem as mage, it’s the bosses that you have no recourse but to get hit by.
Not sure how he acts on anything but T8. But on T8, when he chases you, you run away. When he stops, he’s disoriented and you blow your cooldowns and dps him down. Repeat.
That’s the strat. If you happen to have some other bonus abilities, great, if not, that’s a pretty simple strat I’m giving you and what I use. It only takes like 2 minutes maybe if you use your buttons. If you avoid things, you barely even need defensives on this fight.
Also. Bonus tip. If for some reason your character runs slower, like you’re RP walking or something, you can use the HUGE rock to help run away. He’s a dumbass and has trouble pathing around it. So just circle that rock and it’s almost impossible for it to get you.
IMO, this is one of the easiest boss fights because it’s almost 100% avoidable damage.
This has very much been my experience and I am quite happy with the overall difficulty of Tier 8 delves with me starting under the 600 item level recommendation. Only on Waxface did I feel like an encounter was overtuned. And even there I relied on Brann and a talent change and overcame it.
True but since every spec has beaten an 8 it’s not just a binary, pass/fail issue where Class X can do an 8 and Class B can’t.
How easy something like Delves are is a mix of Class design and player skill.
Some Classes will always find solo play easier and players with more skill will always do better. Blizz needs to account for all of that.
My friends who are hardcore into PVP are actually doing great on classes like Mage because they’re used to kiting and employing their whole survival/CC arsenal. That’s something a lot of PVE only players aren’t used to doing. In particular the very casual PVE player.
His base run speed was faster than my character’s. That and when you’re in a confined space you have to run in circles while he runs in a straight line at you which means they have to cover less distance. I dunno, haven’t done it on my mage in days. As pally you just self heal so it’s no problem.
Cool, glad you have enjoyed them. I didn’t feel tanky on my tank and healing was goofy bad, so I just grouped my 20+ t8 runs last week. I’ll probably just stick to that. I like a challenge, but not if it gonna take an hour per run and i need 8 level 8s on each toon. No thanks to soloing that.
How on earth did you get that out of what I posted? Saying that players of all classes and specs should be able to complete something isn’t the same as saying that all players of all skill levels should be able to do something.
