Please do not turn the Maw into Dark Souls

Most of the time that’s the case if you’re in pvp territory.

All this really means is that it’s a bad idea to overextend oneself. If means that running into a pull that seems risky is a gamble, and you’ll have to choose if you want to gamble or come back later when your character is powerful enough to handle it confidently.

It’s only really bad for those who approach Torghast with a “winning by sheer numbers” approach, repeatedly throwing themselves at hurdles until things somehow work out.

No I want to keep what I worked for.

So one death is failure. Better not let raiders know that some die hundreds of times before they kill a boss.

Okay but thing you’re not getting though is how often do you actually die in the open world outside of warmode? It doesn’t happen that often and usually its because you failed something that was avoidable or pulled to much stuff. So yeah there’s punishments for failing things and thats a good thing. Makes you play the game smarter and not be bad

Stop complaining about something that most likely won’t even be a big deal. Or just leave the Maw before things get to hard for you. The point of this seems to be way to allow people to push for a bit more of a challenge in outdoor content which is great and adds some flavor to dailies. But if you choose to take the risk you know what you’re risking

Umm…last time I checked, wiping on a boss IS failure. Idk what your definition might be.

And you will if you don’t act stupid in the most dangerous place in the universe.

Well, that’s failure to kill a boss. What’s your point?

So glad you all have never died playing this game from a simple mistake. I wish I was as good as you all.

And do they lose all they worked for in that raid because of one death?

Yep, I can only imagine the rage if Azeroth was even remotely as unforgiving as New Eden. You think anything at all in WoW is “punishing” lmao, please…

No, you don’t lose all you worked for anywhere in the game, even in the maw

I will happen. Getting knocked back buy something unavoidable and not being able to get back to your body. Someone DCing before they get back to their body. Being camped by 10 people and not being able to res and get the stuff back. This is not going to go over well to many things can make you lose that will be beyond your control.

Like i said before it’s not a deal breaker for me I just will not be spending much time there. It does not sound like fun at all.

You don’t lose all you worked for in any of those situations, try again

Uh yeah. They lose durability, food, and the percentage of health they had gotten the boss down to.

But you don’t lose everything in the Maw. You can always recover it.

So what the point of the mechanic if you never lose anything? So if you don’t pick it back up it will what, just be mailed to you?, again what is the point of it then? And it will happen. Maybe not to me but it will happen.

Ok so first off, if you don’t get back to your body, you lose half your stash…not all, just half. Secondly, what does this stigia even buy for you? Why are people up in arms over potentially losing half (at worst) of a currency when we don’t even know what it’s even used for?

Point is you should not lose what you worked for just for dieing. It’s stupid.

If the Maw is as open world as Elwynn Forest, then I know this is going to sound very simple.

TURN OFF WAR MODE.

If you don’t want an added challenge of World PvP, turn it off.

Otherwise, let’s get onto the PvE part of things.

The Maw lorewise is a very dangerous, unforgiving place. Wouldn’t you think the gameplay kind of reflected that? You only lose half your Stygia if you die, but you can recover it.

This actually engages the Player in making crucial decisions on what routes they take, similar to Mythic+ where if you fully wipe in a high key more than once, you almost certainly fail the run.

Stygia is a resource used to power your covenant or something like that, it’s the reason you go to The Maw is to grow your covenant, saving allies that would have gone to your place but couldn’t, and bringing back fractions of the Jailer’s minion’s power. But at a risk.

I don’t know if this is repeatable as many times as you want similar to Torghast, but if it isn’t then the weight of dying too much will eventually push you out of The Maw by your own accord.

Pretty sure Dark Souls is all about memorizing boss patterns.

No, it’s creative. It’s dangerous to be there. There are no flight paths, there are no rest areas, and death has consequences. It’s awesome.

Is there a “talent tree” for the Maw like there is for Horrific Visions? If there isn’t, add one. I don’t enjoy untalented vision runs and I won’t enjoy this either. Being actually afraid while playing a game just isn’t fun for me. Im not that kind of thrill seeker.
