Incorrect word usage. The word was forced, not asked. Being asked to is ok, being forced to is not.
If they needed a healer, then they should invite a healer, not a ret. This sounds like a guild management problem. They should stop trying to put their own progress against the fun of its members. Clearly the GM is one “that individuals shouldn’t play this game. His mentality doesn’t fit the current society neither.
There is absolutely no reason for us to cater these individuals.”
Very good point.
Good point, so he can just not raid, or if he refuses to heal, they can bench them and invite healers. Bringing an egoistic and selfish personality is troublesome. But most rets will bent because they know the consequences of refusal. That’s why we have some selfishness promoting propagandas.
Maybe this is just wishful thinking as a critic of dual spec but I don’t think it will be added to SoD.
The decision to add DS to Classic is - in my opinion - the most divisive and prominent #somechanges debate and Blizzard never implemented it for Era or TBCC. Moreover, the rune system and revamping of roles appears to be addressing the primary use case for DS: creating more flexibility and introducing more tanks and healers into the pool. DS really doesn’t seem necessary in SoD.
Says the human paladin.
In all seriousness though, that’s not the point at all. The ret can still raid in another group of the same guild. It’s a situation of where the GM/RL puts people (Don’t tell me about small populations not being able to form multiple groups. I am on Horde BsB ffs). This has happened to me multiple times where they just moved the toon I was playing to a different raid group for that week in order to fill each role/position properly.
Why arent you carrying all 3 gear set types Avill? Why havent you leveled every profession to max on alts Anvill? Why dont you have a raid ready 60 of every class Avill? This is agame and every moment you play should be dedicated to the group. Why donare you not logged on 24 hours a day to help people Avill? Your argument to ad absurdum shows how ridiculous the original premise is.
Actually seems more necessary to me, as a warlock main. Only reason this toon is dual specced in WotLK is for pvp. But if we get a tank spec, then DS could be for either a 2nd pve spec (dps, tank, or demo pet buff build) or a pvp spec.
Ngl, I do this on my Belf pally in WotLK, but that’s because I have fun with all 3 specs.
Assuming Talent Trees are not being changed, would you feel the same way?
Again, the runes appear to be supplanting DS. You don’t need to entirely respec when you can swap out a few runes and become a competent tank / healer / DPS. And your spec is the role that you excel at.
You are intepreting my arguments in the most twisted ways possibly.
Let me ask, why you want to raid ? Why you want to join a guild ? Because you want to get loot, you want to have fun raiding with people and to beat the game, don’t you? So that’s what your guild, your raid fellows bring to you. On vanilla, you know deep damn that ret is the worst possible dps, they are in raid to carry you. Ok, let me ask you, what do you offer to your guild, your raids ? The moment they ask you to help, you throw tantrums ? That’s beyond selfishness. I am not surprised for raids to bench rets refusing to heal, they need friends, companions to beat the game, not selfish luggages.
Ig that’s where it gets a bit complicated for me. I personally sometimes like to play optimally myself, cause big numbies go brrr, but idk what the optimal builds would be for warlock tank (high self-heal or high-damage reduction) and pvp (just in general) with the runes. I mean, obviously the runes will change where you put talents even if there are no actual differences in the talents themselves.
Tl;dr: I think that DS should at least be an option for those who want to things as best as they can, but not forced upon those who don’t/used to force people into playing a certain way.
Would it be reasonable for your guild to ask you to delete your Ret and level a Fury Warrior?
Do we know that for SoD though? No? Then don’t force people to play a certain way.
Did you watch the SoD blizzcon? It was specifically mentioned.
No, I didn’t.
That’s a shame. Still, I’m hopeful that DS ends being unnecessary in SoD!
Oh I didn’t say only about vanilla rets, I meant for all people with such mentality. We aren’t supposed to cater them. Selfish people can live by themself. We are supposed to push forward what brings good for all as a whole not for selfish individuals.
No, im there for everyone’s enjoyment including that ret pallies. WHy should he have to suffer so everyone else can have fun. Why can’t everyone win? The easy answer is: They can. None of the content in classic era right now requires you to bench a ret pally. Not a single one. In fact, I would argue that if you can’t clear the raid content with 35 people, you arent as good as you think.
No one else should have less fun just because you want to have fun. Seems like you may be the selfish one.
Actually Anvill, theres a good question. Shouldnt you make all your dps reroll warrior? Shouldnt they do it for everyones benefit? Should all rogues be humans with swords? Should the guild enforce that? If they weren’t selfish they would reroll right?
Suffer? He pushes the idea of single spec so he won’t have to respec when his raid needs him, he sacrifices other joys over his joys. He rather crippling his raid than letting his ego go. Let me ask you, when you join a raid/guild you will be asked about your main spec, right? So they will organize a proper spot for you, right? If they asks you to play a different spec, that means you either doesn’t perform well or raids really need you for that role either momentarily or permanently? You can’t help your fellows with that role momentarily because of your ego, you are a jerk. If you are asked to change your role permanently, that means single spec or dual specs doesn’t matter, because you will play that single role whenever you raid with them. Dual spec is even better because you can swap out of your new main role much easier when you don’t raid. Is it clear enough for you ?
