Report it rp addons arent against the rules but how its used is totaly actionable people find out the hard way.
Download the addon and install it. From the addon you can report their profile! It will result in them getting a ādisruptive gameplayā sanction instead of a chat infraction category, but it does solve the problem.
Blizzard worked with the addon maker to ensure that there is reporting and accountability for what is publicly displayed through it.

See, thatās what I did. I RP so I have the addon but the GM didnāt seem particularly impressed, saying I should report by right clicking them instead.
Iām just kinda confused.
And I donāt think sending it to the Hacks team is a good idea. This isnāt really their wheelhouse.

I am too. I thought the addon used the right click functions in a round about way. I did not realize it was using a ticket path. Either that or the GM just did not know about the addon and how it does reporting?

I would do this, as it is text from their ānaming/storyā addon.
The name report will just show the name though - so a GM is not going to act on it if the name is not against the rules.
There IS a proper way to report RP profiles so I am just confused as to why a GM would kick it back if it was reported correctly already.
GMs donāt always have all the info though - training is a thing for a reason.

Maybe, but Iām not really fond of the idea of clogging tickets just for asking āAre you sure I do it this way?ā
I copyād/pasteād the link as instructed and put in the short and sweet details. I guess Iāll just close it, not sure if Iāll try it again because, like I said, thereās a ton of tickets and I donāt think sending multiple would be a good idea. Especially if thereās no real uniform approach.
Yeah there should be no need for a ticket. There is a report function built into the addon.

Now Iām just double confused, because the addon āreportā makes a link that you copy paste, and that makes a ticketā¦It doesnāt do anything else.
I donāt even know anymore.
I have never used the addon!
I thought it reported via the game, not through a ticket. Well then. TIL.

Sorry for the confusion, Guuah, Iām not entirely certain why you were referred to the right click report option.
Putting in a ticket specifically under āHarassment in addon textā is the best way to report bad text in a TRP profile.
I know there is an option within the addon that kind of does it for you but Iāve never tested it. What I can tell you is that the ticket that you put in didnāt have the name of the character you were reporting. While we definitely want to address problematic profiles, we arenāt really able to search though however many people with TRP that you may have interacted with (it is a LOT of text to try and parse through, so we need to focus on the individual being reported).
If you see a bad profile in the future try putting in the ticket manually. Open up your main menu click on Support. Then click āGet Helpā > In-Game Issues > Report a Player > Harassment in Addon Text. Provide the name/realm of the character and if you can, what you are reporting.

Thanks for everyone else trying to help, also! I donāt really report TRPs often because almost all of them are just fine, so I was venturing in blind.
I am not either but I wasnāt able to find the name of the person in your ticket so Iām going to assume it didnāt make it into the process. Iāll have to investigate that a little bit more.

TRP has a little blue Blizzard bubble that gives you a code to send to a GM in a ticket, which they can use to not only see the character, but the whole profile in question as far as I am aware.
As far as Iām personally aware, because Iāve reported RP profiles quite a lot over the past year, all the pop-up link does when selecting the āreport to blizzardā is open the āharassment in addon textā battlenet WoW window for you to manually input information.
As stated above, fill it out as youāre able to and youāre good to go! Also, as stated above, ignore the template reply from the GM stating to āin the future, right click ā reportā them.
Sorry to re-up this thread, but the player returned and Iām trying to file a report manually this time as opposed to using the TRP option as Iām not wanting to waste my, or the GMās time.
It has been made next to impossible to manually file a ticket. The path you listed Vrak, and I know this is no fault of your own, doesnāt exist unless I drudge through all 100 pages of results and hoping one of them will be more than telling me to right click.
Itās gone from me being confused to me being frustrated and a tad bit angry. I know itās a small thing in the grand scheme of things but I feel like thereās really nothing I can do.
Itās right where Vrak said it was, fourth option down.

Thatās what I did, it instead brought up a bunch of unrelated articles telling me to right click their name. I went from in game and the support site with similar results.
Iām justā¦not going to deal with it. People can do what they want, whatever.

Ahhh, this sounds more like you were navigating the knowledge database rather than the ticket support system, that makes sense.
Usually at the bottom of those pages thereās a ācontact usā or āneed more helpā button to click.
It can sometimes be frustrating but definitely donāt let it gnaw at you and deter you from helping as you can! It gets tough sometimes.
