I agree twinks negatively impact the low level PvP experience for non-twinks who engage in low level PvP.

A simple fix it would be to award XP automatically to the players after a BG. Eventually twinks will outlevel the BG, and its temporary nature would cause less to twink in the first place.

That being said, twinking was part of the Vanilla experience and therefore it should stay as it was. There will be players joining Classic specifically for this experience which they cannot get elsewhere.

As someone who genuinely has no dog in the twink fight (I didn’t start playing the game until Wrath, and my own PVP accomplishments are modest at best), I’ll tell you why I’m against what the OP proposes. It’s not authentic. We’re supposed to be getting gameplay that is as authentic to 1.12 as is possible, and that includes some elements that might be more distasteful to some people than to others.

That’s just not how everybody views it, especially in a vanilla environment which is more survival-of-the-fittest than anything else.

I agree that facing twinks as a non-twink character is not fun. I disagree that they need to develop some mechanism to prevent it.

you have access to twink gear while leveling :sunglasses:

if you are saying you dont want to mess with that, well guess what? i dont want to raid naxx at 60, so that isnt “fair” to me that other people will right?

it also cant simply be “disabled” in classic because bgs dont give exp anyway.

i guess they could make it so you are separated if you ilevel is high enough, but that would be a change that has never happened in any version of the game. its not really on the table/not happening

also, I expect a partially-semantic argument to be made against this post due to a lack of eloquence on my part; twinking is balanced since both factions can do it, but it isn’t fun unless you’re fighting other twinks

either way, though… if you removed twinks from the non-max-level PvP brackets then low level BGs probably wouldn’t happen, except maybe the rare WSG
that said, I’d like if PvP brackets were 5 level brackets, but it’d cause the same issues

both of those are assuming no x-realm BGs, though

Also nax gear is just an example. 1-2 shots @60 can happen with just molten core gear. ‘3 minute’ mages (ZG + MC trink) can literally 1 shot (instant pyro crit). There’s a famous vid of a hand of rag enhance shaman killing people in a single wind fury proc. 1-2 shots will only happen more frequently as BWL and then AQ40 release. The average non-raider lvl 60 health pool is like 3.5 - 4 k. And the majority of BG players will be non-raiders.

The gear disparity is FAR FAR greater at 60 than any other bracket.

the gear disparity is very extreme at level 60, as T3 chest armor is to a lvl 58 blue as a level 58 blue is to a level 29 green, and thats the most extreme example; plenty of players will have some epic items from MC or not-MC by then

but it is perhaps as extreme at level 19
enchants are very big for a level 19 character, and don’t forget that the naxx shoulder enchant exists, or that you can put a enchant on a fishing hat or engineering goggles
furthermore, most level 19 characters who aren’t twinks don’t have more than a few blue items, and most of them don’t have any level 19 items at all, and are lacking a hat, 1 or 2 rings, and an amulet, and maybe shoulders, which are probably grey if they have any, and may be made of cloth if they have any, even if they aren’t a clothie, and non-twinks practically never have better gear than that, and some of a twink’s items are above ilvl=charlvl+5

Thing about 19 though is that there isn’t really any 1 shot mechanics available. Theres no instant pyros, no wind fury procs, no mortal strikes, no aimed shots, no dmg on use trinkets, no burst cool downs of any kind. 60 is where all the burst and 1 shots is at.

hm, thats right
twinks do have a freaking ton more hp than non-twinks have, though
also, twinks can get pvp trinket+arena grandmaster; that shield is utterly gigantic at level 19, and getting to remove a crucial debuff is another large advantage
and crusader procs are sort of bursty

Not saying the OPs ideas are good, but part of the reason the early bracket queues were long was due to people not wanting to deal with twinks.

Twinks added nothing positive to the game overall.

Vanilla is about putting in time and getting rewarded for it. If someone takes the time to twink they get rewarded. Splitting twinks up into their own bg would destroy the whole reason to twink, to show off you spent time and its well deserved.
