Twinking was fun because you had to farm rare dungeon blues, buy expensive BoEs and apply expensive level 60 enchants. It was fun because you were rewarded for putting in the effort to maximize your power for your level.
Then comes XP for BGs, and the BiS for twinks is gear that EVERYONE who is leveling would have anyway. Enchants no longer work (or scale down) for your level, and the only way to not ruin your twink is to purposely lock your XP which puts you into a separate group of people who do the same.
You make an implicit assumption here that is not true. There is absolutely nothing wrong with “preying on non twinks” in World of Warcraft battlegrounds. It’s a game. There are many ways to play it. You don’t get to set the standard.
Well for years twinks were claiming there was a large vibrant community of twinks who just twinked so they could fight other twinks in competitive pvp. Apparently they were lying.
It doesn’t matter what they were claiming or whether or not they were lying. I would argue that they made a tactical error by even conceding that their motive for twinking was anyone’s business. If you want to beat a twink, get better gear before you enter a low level battleground. That’s how everything else in the game works. It is as it should be.
Sure, maybe that would have been the smarter position to take. But then who cares, the change did make low level BG’s more enjoyable for people who were actually leveling.
So what? The same could be said about a lot of the other QoL crap that’s been injected into the game since Vanilla. The game is about power, force, seizing advantage and pressing it. If you don’t like playing in a world where advantage can be gained and the strong dominate the weak, you are perhaps in the wrong game. Certainly you are not suited for Vanilla.
Your attitude is precisely the driver behind the stupid templates that were used in Legion battlegrounds. I don’t know if they still use them in the latest expac or not. But they treat battlegrounds like a separate game. They were one of the many, many mistakes Blizzard has made.
LoL like I said if twinks had come out from the start and just admitted they twinked because they couldn’t actually handle competitive pvp maybe things would have been different.
This is where I disagree with what you’re saying in this particular post. There is a middle ground. Run some dungeons. Use the toolkit you’re class/team has available.
Low level pvp is casual pvp. Even low level twinking is casual imo. A lot of effort but once you get to a certain point it’s just que and fight.
You can do this with greens and just stack stam even. Lol. There are a myriad of tactics that “work”. Play with it. That’s the fun.
If you’re not a twink why are you spending so much time in BGs that this is even an issue? I could see doing a bunch of pvp at lvl 39 to get the rank 3 discount on your mount but outside of that what exactly is it you’re trying to accomplish?
Taking a break from questing.
Getting some reputation as you level.
Feel like killing horde.
Other.
Some combination thereof.
Take your pick really. It’s a game.
I know your question is rhetorical. But I presume he wants Blizzard to step in and make sure that no one is stronger than he is at whatever level he happens to be. You know, level the field for him because he has fallen behind.
