Please delay Dragonflight

Can they delay it?
This isn’t my area of expertise but I’m TOLD that other countries have some law where a company can’t go back on an announced date?
I’ve never looked into it nor am I against a delay but I don’t know if they can.

they havent announced dates yet. all we have is a promise of a on or before end of year date. shadowlands was delayed but it still released well before the end of the year

I mean, not a set in stone date but “before 12/31” still limits them right?

yes legally it limits them but thats on them. so we get DF before end of year

On the beta I would say it’s like 65% complete. All the questing zones are implemented and the only thing missing on them is cutscenes.

There’s no Torghast, legendary, or covenant system the developers need to work on. All their attention can just focus on the talent trees.

Raids are being pushed out for testing soon… so we’re pretty good on time.

I wish they would go back to ready when it’s ready :sob:

The hell are you talking about? The UI is in various forms of broken, has issues translating across characters/servers, is missing a ton of various features, has regressed features (e.g. Unbinding a hotkey is now randomly gone) compared to Live, and quite a few components are missing any options or the ability to be resized, etc. etc.

If you think what’s currently on Beta is remotely close to Production-ready, you’re either completely delusional, or your standards are just so in the toilet that it’s mindblowing.

Oh, okay, so just literally all the content beyond Day 1 of the expansion then. That sounds like a minor thing to not be ready. Why would people possibly be alarmed? /s

Thankfully there’s no shot they delay so I’m not even going to go into too much depth for why delaying is bad. I’ll just say that every expansion has massive problems at launch and the sooner the game comes out the sooner they can start actually fixing the problems.

Presuming they fix the NYI-stuff, I would say it is close enough to production-ready for us to do “Live Beta Testing” on production.

From a UI point of view (what that quote was talking about), what they’ve got right now is only production-ready enough to be binned for addons. There are a lot of things that aren’t explicitly “NYI” but really dont’ work very well, or clash/conflict if you’ve moved things around, etc. It’s only been fine so far on Beta because we’re doing stuff like testing quests, or levelling curves, and so on, as opposed to something serious.

Although to be fair, I don’t know what state addons are in because I don’t know what addons devs have had access to while Blizzard has been changing stuff up. I’ll probably research that more when any serious testing comes up.

Think a minute about the goal of beta test. First, the goal of beta test is NOT to have people telling them how to redesign the game. Those decisions have already been made.

The goal of beta is 1), to see if there are bugs to be fixed and 2) publicity.

Now you say there are too many bugs for feedback which may well be true. But the fact that you encountered a bug and reported it ** IS ** the feed back they want to see. Once the bugs are fixed and that type of “feedback” ends then they will have had all the feedback they need.

And that’s not just Blizzard, that’s the way all beta test on all major software products works.

They fixed it, how hard is that to understand? Obviously theyre not going to leave it in if its a mistake. there’s a significant difference between going away on prepatch and going away with DF launch

It has never in the history of wow gone away with an expansion launch, so it’s not like they could have gotten confused about which tab to put it in

dude…just stop. if its ready, release it. if not, dont.
you arent in any position to say where they will be by release date.

sometimes i think these like the OP here are just doing these threads for attention. They cant read the stinking future to even guess if it’ll need to be delayed or not.
i personally have seen half a dozen bugs Ive reported fixed just this week. I even got an email from blizzard about a few of them.

Im muting this goofy pointless thread.

What I have heard is that in Dragonflight, there are no leveling options, no threads of fate. Every character must do all the leveling quests. That in itself makes the expansion sound way less alt-friendly that Ion has described to us.

I just got Shadowlands with the free offer and leveled up 4 characters in questing, because I didn’t know the dungeons yet. Holy frack that was a slog.

Honestly I hope they release DF in Mid October. Im ready to leave SL this expansion has been dogcrap.

Even a Broken DF will be miles better than SL

A 2 year delay is a horrible idea. that really would kill WoW. 2 years stuck in the Shadowlands the game is done for.

Oh, well, if their mistakes take hours to fix, how could they possibly be ready in only 10 weeks? (Not counting things like tuning that can be hotfixed after release if necessary).

This is a silly thread.

But think of the polish man  We could also have all patches done and do it all at once!

You mention talents not being ready maybe that is how they are going live it not like Blizzard never ignore feedback before . Will there be bug at launch more then likely will delay it help :dracthyr_shrug: .

Was in response to “you guys think they can’t do anything right”

Which is right, they can’t even get a news post right
