Please Deal With Sockpuppeting

I don’t get what sockpuppeting is i just think of the show as a kid I used to watch. If someone is breaking forum rules the mods deal with it I dont understand the problem.

While I find alt hopping strange, I do think that intentionally digging to go find peoples’ alts is a weird hobby. It’s different if the Alts are in the same thread but some of these people seem to go out of their way to track this information down.

It’s what you do. You create different characters to agree with yourself. :woman_shrugging:t2:

Why do you say that? Im far too busy to care about liking my own posts that also sounds like a lot of effort kinda weird why someone would think that.

Cause everyone already knows you do.

Ahh, just think of all that money they wasted that could’ve gone to charities. :disappointed:

I think they should just make it where if you switch characters, that change is reflected on any of the posts you’ve made on any of the characters. Like for instance, if i’ve posted on my Night Elf, and Switched to my blood Elf, my previous posts will now show my current character i’m on instead of my night elf.

So basically, it’s would be the same system you’re suggesting, but masked with just one character… A Profile pic essentially.

They should use RealID just to stop others from trying to say someone is “sock puppeting”. it’s getting rather ridiculous to be accused with 0 proof.

More likely he created different characters to evade people’s ignores. Pretty sure that against a particular rule of Blizzards in Code Of Conduct.

If they moved to BattleTags, there would only be 1 account. Any “new account” would have to be active with a paid subscription.

And I thought I was nuts for having 4 different warriors on different factions and realms.

We seem to be a special kind of player who just love warrioring.

I would describe them as less sockpuppeting, and more Spamming/evading ignores.

What, so you can look up their real name, and call to threaten them or do other terrible things? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

This would literally never be a thing on the Forums and would just create way more problems, especially from people like you. I’m on board with the Bnet Idea personally, because it just uses your account name and nothing else. I mean they used it in every other Blizzard game forum, so i honestly don’t see the reason why they can’t here.

its easy to find out who is sockpuppet if you look at achievements the characters share achievements unless theyre classic characters. those have 0

they just create allied race alts, post then delete the character now. the forum threads stay even if the OP doesnt exist anymore in any capacity.

Should be instant forum termination for that

realID is just your username. for example my bnet is Rizzle#1874. that is what would appear.

Really? because this is what it says on Blizzard’s site about this.

Real ID friends can see each other’s real name, but no personal information beyond that. When players agree to become Real ID friends, they’ll have access to the following features:

  • Cross-game chat
  • Real ID friends’ online status
  • World of Warcraft cross-realm groups (same faction)
  • Friends of Friends

When Tulln says that he wants a system that is only reserved to friend to friend on the forums, that’s making it public, isn’t it?

No. RealID has your real name and email address. Hence RealID. Battletag only has username.

Wait why would someone unironically suggest real name? That is insane, the bnet tag is so much more obvious
