Please bring back faction pride

I realize that some good had come with xfaction queing. But stop treating factions like they are an inconvenience. They have been the backbone of wow since its start. Time to stop holding hands. Can we have a little faction tension mixed with player vs environment to bring some sense of pride of one’s faction choice.

We put aside our differences at times to overcome things our factions can’t individually but we have been far too lovey-dovey for too long.

BFA was a bad xpac but the wpvp and the open world objectives we some of the most fun I’ve had in wow. My wife who is adamant about not wanting to PvP toggled for some achieves and actually ownd people. So for those that are scared of a little confrontation, if she can enjoy it I’m confident you can to without a shadow of a doubt.

I’ve always been an alliance even during the mass exodus. Tried horde and it felt slimy.

Even if I’m the minority faction I would still love more of a plot to strengthen my bonds to my faction. Besides some afk boy king holding hands with horde.

Pretty soon at blizcon we are going to be yelling “For both factions equally” vs the random shouts of “FOR THE HORDE!!!” And “FOR THR ALLIANCE”

Edit 1: I’m not asking for an all out pvp xpac. But if the hand holders are being catered to now because they want to never engage in PvP that’s fine. Sit in the city and never toggle on and enjoy your safe PVE space. But for those that still have it in them to not just swap with the meta every patch give us a side story as suggested by one of the responders we deserve to be catered to as well.

Don’t worry you and your “made up friend” that “plays the other faction while all your others don’t” can still group with you. It won’t affect you.

This game has turned into carebear central and we need some grit. Even if it’s horde and alliance poking at each other, something.

Let’s have tea together plot line is so cringe. Time to add a little spice. We can’t just forget about the last 20 years of betrayals. Just give us a little something.

Edit 2: I hard disagree with a lot of the hand holding opinions here. Simply because you justify it as “I don’t want my choice to ever be an inconvenience” then roll horde. Be the majority on this game. Sell out. It’s fine. We can still have “mercenary” mode so you can carebear it up.

The factions add depth to the game not hinder it. Player vs player vs environment is a formula that worked. Until people wanted a participation ribbon.

Edit 3: apparently accolonn and bellular both agree in a post/ YouTube made after seeing this. Shots out to them.

Only way you get faction pride is to build up a story and revolve around a game that focuses on PVP… PVE imho doesn’t bring that faction pride stuff, “oh man they completed the dungeon before us… ‘oh no’”

Problem will all that is… not enough people care about PVP.

The faction system has been wow’s single largest stain.

An entire playerbase arbitrarily split in two with no way to party with your friends if they picked the wrong race, even when the game threw races from the other faction in your face.

As well as a story that cannot move forward since the races locked to the factions can’t have any intrigue reshaping how the factions alignments are. Nor can either side lose for good.

I wouldn’t mind more faction tension, it doesn’t have to be an all consuming narrative black hole.

They could easily have a questline or two where the Alliance and Horde are doing something, completely unrelated to the other faction to instill the Faction Pride.

Also, we haven’t been at each others throats for 11 months, and this is after a solid 4 years of being at each others throats.

Now if you are referring specifically to PvP. Well that’s a lost cause because the sad reality is nobody really wanted to be on the losing faction, thus why people kept changing servers.

WoW in the early days: FOR THE HOOOORDE!

WoW in the modern day: FOR THE BOAAARD (of directors and investors).

Ultimately, the faction/race pride became insular events (see Heritage questlines) where it has been much less gung-ho nationalism against the “Other Guys” but rather a self-congratulating party of your group doing what they can to do good for themselves without stepping on other toes. Well, besides murdering the heck out of Scarlets but they don’t count as people.

Not to mention that pvp can easily exist even without factions. Thanks to the little thing called “war-games”.

not true, lots of people care about pvp, unfortunately, Blizz don’t

People care about winning pvp. PVP was going on the decline if I recall when the server balances started to get obscene, and nobody wanted to be the Slaughtered.

Your confidence in this opinion is woefully misplaced. I hate pvp with a passion. I will never enjoy it.

As for the rest. The faction war is dumb and dead. Let it rest in peace.

Every. Single. Time. Every. Single. Expansion. It’s ridiculous. There is no reason to be fighting each other anymore.

In a story sense? Have to create new characters as the current characters have resolved too much to be interested in a new conflict. :memo::robot:

Thing is you don’t have to “heal the faction divide” to let players queue together. Players have been queueing together from enemy factions since games much earlier than WoW.

It’s certainly nice when Horde and Alliance set aside their differences to fight a common enemy - it was never needed to justify correcting a huge mistake in the backend of the game since its earliest days.

Due to factions now being able to guild and group together I think there’s not really a point to faction purist pride.

To be honest though I actually find groups with both to be a good thing. As players we should be the difference. I love I can be anything and still play with friends now.

Once they open LFG to both factions and I can properly play with friends again I’ll be suuuper happy.

Tells me all I need to know about OP. Disregard.

Your response tells me a lot about you too. “I have one single friend that plays the other faction because they like the way their toon looks pretty” and I can’t stand how I can’t group with him. Now I can. So since I’m being catered to, shame on anyone else for asking for a side quest line?

Sit in the city. PVE darling nothing is stopping you.

Yeah name calling all those who don’t want to PvP names such as care bear really shows them how much fun PvPers can be. GG.

Course they can. Blizzard just isn’t gamy enough to go as far as obliterating factions or pushing the status quo to the brink of ruin.

I’m not even an advid pvpr. But if my wife can enjoy it which is the last person you’d expect to, you may be able to as well. But sadly people are so stubbornly against trying new things it’s a shame.

Going for a few wpvp related drops mid zone, PvP dailies to do along side your world quests never harmed anyone. Don’t like that? Don’t toggle. EZ

A few little plots about trying to attack the other faction were nice.

Now it’s one big yoga session. Let’s all hold hands.

Arnet those that wanna hold hands with the other faction carebears? Explain how they arnet? And since when was that name calling? People will find any way possible to be offended I swear.

Let me call you a brave PVE king then. I think that would help.
