Because Blizzard’s answer to it’s inability to hire men who don’t objectify and abuse women was to take inspiration from Talibanesque cultures. Clearly the answer to a man’s inability to behave properly is to erase women and turn them into fruit bowls.

My favorite casual WoW racism was all of the centaur calling you “two legs” or “two hooves” or whatever it was in DF. Top notch stuff. Very progressive.
I guess it’s one of those things that people see as a funny thing when it comes from an NPC (the dialogue of which is written by a human) but apparently not from a PC (the words of which are written by humans).

Warcraft has used silliness to counterbalance the fact that it’s not shy about diving into dark subject matters. Warcraft 1, 2 and 3 all center around wars of genocide. You have corky goblins and sheep that explode if you click on them too many times and meta jokes about gnomes you can’t actually find anywhere in the game because otherwise it’d just be Warhammer Fantasy.
