It is not. You’re blowing it into something it’s not and trying to gaslight everyone into thinking the sky is falling.
We see you, Chicken Little. We aren’t buying it.

Their message with no meaningful explanation isn’t vague? Good one.
Do you talk to people? Do you sometimes say CoC frowned upon things? Is saying a few swear words in conversation suspension worthy? A lot of swear words? Is the number different for slurs and threats?
I think closing out all information shared and jumping to strictly numbers is not how you should read it as more than ‘just leaving dungeons’ was not the criteria of the suspension.
They were vague on purpose. They are not going to tell you where the line is.
If they said leaving 50 times a week gets a suspension trolls and griefers will leave 49 times to avoid it. Trolls will cheese there way out while still griefing others.
the answer is blizzard wont tell us
so now people held hostage in un timeable failing keys or risk bans
isnt that so fun and quirky
A good punishment would be ZERO punishment… Things happen and often there’s plenty of fault to go around or it was nobody’s fault at all (power loss, internet glitch, kid or parent cut themselves and need help right away, etc.).
Intentionally bricking a key… well that’s hard to prove, but if you CAN prove it, then report the player (with a link to the video evidence), but dont’ expect “swift justice.” Blizz has bigger fish to fry than siphoning off a part of their (already understaffed) support team to review video footage evidence in player complaints.
Same process we have now… group with friends, when it’s clear you can’t even complete the dungeon (let alone time it), then you all agree to abandon the key and try again with someone else’s key in your group (or push your key back up).
If you group with PUGs, then you take your chances and you know that going into such a group (success rate in PUGs is generally lower than with friends you know can play well and are all in voice coordinating).
I don’t think punishments are the answer to anything in a “game” except for gross misconduct (stalking, harassment, RL threats, griefing like intentionally bricking a key).
I like the 10 day ban option. Keeps them from coming back in 6/12/24 hours just to be a jerk again. Also keeps them out of Delves and off the forums. Would love to see it bumped up to a 30 day ban. Give them time to think about why they were wrong, go touch grass, come back, and act like gamers and not griefers.
True, and Blizzard agrees with that and excuses it. But I also think key bricking needs to be stopped, even with this system it doesn’t stop a player from having their key ruined by others.
Blizzard can look at your log, it seems like a stretch to think 80% of the time someone leaves 5 mins into an 11 it was due to IRL. And if that somehow is the case having someone like that constantly ruining other players sessions is just a mistake.
…what kind of take is this? The CoC says no swearing, not this wishy-washy ‘lots’ nonsense. It is a clearly defined rule. Don’t swear, period.
Simple solution is to set a strict rule on COMPLETION keys. If you join a completion key and leave, you risk the suspension. Timed keys shouldn’t be subject to this vague guesswork.
What counts as a swear word? Where is the list of what they define as a swear word? Is Skibidi a swear word? How come you can’t say some mechanics in this game without chance of punishment?
Guess you just better not talk, then. I’m not gonna bother pugging anymore this season, until they actually define the rule. Not worth the risk.
Ill keep talking as much as I want because I don’t panic any time I see a rule, I’ve been alive long enough to understand intention of a rule. I’m not going to stop saying ‘Hi’ because some people got in trouble for saying slurs.
Yes it does matter, I can walk into a room of 100 people and ask for a definition of something and receive 100 different responses that doesnt answer my question.
To answer the questions people have so they have clarification as to go “oh ok I did this thing wrong, this was the reason why, so I wont take this action again” is the correct way of doing things.
I mean unless if youre one of those trump trial people who suggests “they didnt do anything specifically wrong just that they get punished for something we deem as being wrong or is close enough”
Not deterring people from leaving so far. Just had a healer dip just before last boss on a 10 arakara because we were going to barely not time it.
The rule is as clear as it can be. Just remember that if blizz defined very specific quantifiable metrics then 2 things will happen.
Better to just cut both forms of griefing by providing a blanket no griefing rule. Obviously sometimes keys just dont work out and it’s clear two pulls and 5 wipes on that it’s a failure. However, that is by no means the norm.
Sometimes real life happens and someone leaves for seemingly no reason. Again, this isn’t the norm.
I can count my experiences with those on one hand and Blizzard hasn’t expressed any desire to punish people for those situations. They’re going after the people who make a habit of leaving. I wont pretend to know their criteria, but if it were up to me I would set the detection threshold based on a combination of abandoned key percentage and dungeon progression status when abandoned.
Obviously the placement of that red line is critical and feedback should be provided that it’s too strict or not strict enough. However, it’s important for people to realize it’s there, but shouldn’t ever be a concern for people playing the game normally. I’d wager they set the thresholds quite high to start with to avoid catching innocents.
So I highlighted this part specifically because allow me to answer this with a metaphoricsl question.
If I get pulled over by a cop and I ask “whats the trouble officer?” And he gives me a “youre in trouble statement, heres a ticket” should I just nod my head and go “oh ok I guess I did SOMETHING wrong and ill pay the ticket”?
They should increase the cost of your subscription every key you leave and the only way to make it go back down is to complete a key. That would be a better affix than Challenger’s Peril.
Isn’t that exactly how it works in real life though? Unless you feel like getting dragged out of your car and catch a beating for resisting and not following orders.
Too bad Blizzard removed the old difficulty levels of 2 to 9. Many of us liked that level. This forced use into difficulty levels we should not be in, breaking your keys. Blizzard is at fault here.
Nope, cops will tell you if youre oulled over “do you know why I pulled you over?” You take your guess and if its wrong the cop explains himself, same process here.
Like yes the line could and likely is ran up to but the failsafe is in place
