Yeah, that’s why I think a whitelist approach would be a perfect middle ground–you’re as isolated or not-isolated as you want. I honestly expect an approach more like ESO’s where you can never see two houses side by side, but I want more than that

I am just starting out but would really enjoy property disputes.

I keep repeating myself, but I am gunna keep saying it again and again because I honestly believe it will please the most people possible. Blizzard needs to give us blank lots that we can build custom structures on as well as drop prebuilt structures into. Then allow these lots to be linked together into seamless communities. It is possible. Wildstar already this years ago. Blizzard needs to do this now.

Summary: I don’t want Blizz to give us “house styles” to choose from.
I want to build. I want to destroy. I want the ability to do both of those easily and without time gating.

If I can build, I can tear down and rebuild depending on what I want to accomplish with the plot.
Sometimes it might be a house. Sometimes it might be a really cool set up for a fight scene. Or a picnic scene. Or a haunted house. Unlimited set design for RP.
There used to be a game that was a movie production sim called The Movies. And you built your sets and then could film actual mini movies. Imagine being able to build your housing plot like a movie set and then use OBS to film something!

Giving us house styles is fine, if they also give us building blocks to build our own structures.
Like, if they wanna give us a prebuilt “cozy nightelf house” that we can put on our lot. Sure. Fine, no problem with that. But Blizzard also needs to give us building block assets to build our own structures like floors, walls, windows, ceiling, roofs, whatever.
But also don’t limit to just building materials. There needs to be rocks, snow, and trees, and grass, and lights, and guard rails, and spikes. Lots of spikes. Skulls. Campfires, and logs, flowers, and snakes. And turkeys? And shovels. And wheels and gears. And saddles. And…

Exactly! Yes! And there are so many different styles of buildings because Blizzard keeps adding new races and generally making new assets that reflect their racial style. And we need them all! To build with.

To add to this - here’s a concern.
Blizz gave us garrisons and because very few people liked them and interacted it became, “people don’t like housing”. (obv - garrisons weren’t housing) but that was the argument.
I want to build.
If the first introduction to player housing is “here’s a home, choose your colors”, I won’t be interacting with it, because I find that type of housing…boring.
If others are the same and they see the lack of engagement, will it become, “Oh see, no one wants player housing”?

I voiced this same concern last night with my wife when we were talking about housing. I do hope they release a banger system or at least solid foundation. Because it can be expanded on over time. Even Wildstar didn’t start with the same level of awesome housing it had when the game eventually closed. It was a solid start that Carbine kept improving on over the life of the game.

They should make it so that you can build a swimming pool, and if you edit your house to remove the ladder while fellow players swimming in it they are trapped
