Wait! You expect anyone to believe that the Hordies know how to use a table when y’all don’t even have chairs?
Oh, and another thing: Do not put a mission table in my house. Do not. Absolutely do not.
Clothing racks to show off my nifty transmogs would be fun, though. As long as I can place it where I want. Do not put this in my living room. A bedroom or a smithy are where I’d place.
I think the best approach is to not ‘expect’ things, and just let Blizz put out there what they’re gonna give us. If we want all the bells and whistles at the beginning, we’re inevitably going to be upset and bitter and disappointed.
I think we do need to accept this is a new system which is gonna have its issues, and we’ll get more and more features attached to it as we go along. Think that Sims 2 started out with less than Sims.
My middle name in the 14th Century.
Blizzard in a nutshell, these past twenty years.
You’re getting a mission table.
You’re getting a covenant stone.
You’re getting an upgrades kiosk.
You’re getting a trading post.
You’re getting an in-game store.
And you are not getting a cute little teapot to put on your table.
We know exactly how to use tables…
Dang it, Enekie! Whyyyyy…
Oh yeah! Now somebody is going to have to design a full on arena complete with ring and cage for the inevitable “Cage Match RP Night” at Rakham’s mansion.
ANYTHING in my house.
It’s mine to do with what I want. If I want to put nothing in it, than so be it.
Leave me a blank slate.
This is why I want Wildstar-style housing damn it! We could DO THAT! I WOULD BUILD THAT!
This this this this this.
Reading these last few posts about suspiciously sourced meat products is enough to make Grimbashi want to start ordering the garden salad and a glass of water.
tbh, I hope the housing has NO features like that in it.
I dont even want us to have portals.
Make us go out in to the world to do stuff, the only thing I think id be ok with is the Profession crafting stations maybe.
So, apparently Ion was interviewed for an article and confirmed the player housing bit but added that the reason it was such a vague teaser is that they purposely wanted people on the forums to discuss it, so they could comb the forums and see what’s being discussed and what people want.
All that being said, I will pick this post (#256), to post my legit and super serious wants and desires and continue to edit it moving forward, outside the thread flowing discussion.
//saving to post later
EDIT 1 - A Blank Canvas and the ability to actually BUILD
My favorite housing/build systems are ones that let me be the actual architect.
There are (3) real types of building in games:
1 - Here’s the houses you can choose from. Change the colors/patterns/textures/etc.
2 - Here are the pieces of a house - floor pieces, roof pieces, wall pieces, etc. (Conan, ESO)
3 - Here’s stone and wood and a bunch of other resources. Build whatever you want! (Valheim)
Ideally, I want #3 but #2 will absolutely work, provided we get enough options (5 colors and 3 textures is not enough - BLIZZ BARBER SHOP I’M LOOKING AT YOU).
I absolutely do not want #1. Don’t give me Garrison 2.0. If you give me house styles to choose from and that’s as far as we go, I’m done with player housing on Day 1. PERIOD.
The fun of player housing is building, designing and decorating.
My first real serious “want” would be the ability to actually do those things.
In relation to this, I want ‘ease’ with which to build. Let me build easily. Let me destroy easily. DO NOT TIMEGATE MY BUILDING ABILITY. This is NOT Life is Feudal.
I swear TFG, if you make me chop down trees and it takes 2 hours to get 3 lumber…
DO NOT TIMEGATE THE BASIC BUILDING, DESTRUCTION AND PLACEMENT ABILITIES.
My dream thing for it would be for a profession or some sort of forge that turns gear into hangable or shelf-able objects – and to turn all of the rare treasure in < Azeroth Archives > into an actual museum.
That’s more like a guild hall, I suppose.
But I’d love something like that. Start with personal housing, escalate to guild halls, and uplift it all into a system capable of campaign creation.
I hope everybody gets what they want from player housing.
Cheers.
Player Housing should have the option to fill a tank with fish and unceremoniously kill them if you forget to feed them for a day, like Command Shepards aquarium in mass effect 2
I keep going back to ESO. But…
They offer huge plots that Guilds there all chip in to buy, and fill with useful things for the guild.
You can set permissions for guild members to come and go as they please, even when you’re not online.
And give other players the ability to edit.
