Reverse psychology, I like it. Tell them they shouldn’t do it, and now they will.
nice rhetorical question, so mundane. but i will bite. i care because it is content (if you can call afking in a glorified house until toon auto logs out, content) that i and players like me will not do, when the developer time could be used more productively creating real content that is the bread and butter of this game, content that is already lacking without pointless housing. like open world events, world bosses, more / bigger dungeons, better rewards, addition raids, mini raids, etc… and so on. hard to believe i had to even take time out of my day to explain common sense to you.
“I don’t want it so they shouldn’t do it”. That’s all I’m hearing from the nay-sayers. That’s not a good enough reason to not add content for others.
So, basically, if you don’t do the content you don’t want it in the game. Gotcha.
You have provided no common sense. You just said how you think the game should be developed.
Common sense shows that subs have been declining for years so big changes are needed to the game.
Fine. The game is over. The levelling experience is so gone and missing now, we are only at endgame doing M+ at the current expansion, that there’s no game left to do anymore to collect decorations and patterns from. If they don’t come out with a WoW2 we will all be crawling along the floor to solo grossly overgeared legacy expansions and even vanilla for cosmetic rewards, when the great Feats of Strength are long gone.
If you want player housing to be part of the journey, they need a journey and something to do. It’s too late as we get drip-fed expansion content and new housing components over time.
Would it ever feel good to wait for Blizzard to deliver a new lampshade if you’ve already missed out on a good armor decoration and Feat of Strength like “of the Black Harvest?” to decorate the home with?
If you allow what you can’t do to control what you can do, the problem isn’t the housing system.
While you’re right philosophically, where would you expect to get your housing materials now? Legion? Vanilla?
It’s moot because we have no idea where the overlap will be, housing is so far removed, it could be four years to integration. What content will be available in four years? Legion. Vanilla. Dragonflight?
Housing needs to be much further along to intersect with this content … unless the problem domain changes. Like a new world or a new game.
And of course all this is predicated upon the basic idea that housing is a collection facility, but we’re granting that.
You probably have the idea that I’m anti housing. I’m not. I just don’t think there’s going to be enough agreement in the next four years to implement it on existing content as a baseline.
I would hope we could get materials to make stuff from the whole range of content. Cataclysm mats for Cataclysm-related pieces (like goblin stuff), Wrath mats for Wrath-related pieces, etc. They don’t necessarily have to release every single piece for every single expansion theme at one time. Is that going to move the needle for some players to mess around with that content again? Probably not, but there will be those that do.
Complete agreement there. The idea of going back on content like Legion that plays correctly only in Timewalking where due to scaling it doesn’t have the difficulty it once did, or in the mog hunting with level squishes ruins the collecting experience; I hope material collection is forward looking. But I find it hard to deny that the best material could ever be forward looking, considering player counts, and the nostalgia factor we have for Vanilla to WOTLK. That I think is the problem - the best items are already behind us.
People don’t seem to like to do old content anymore. I remember some guy doing a daily update to the forums on how much he hated doing 400 quests to unlock Kul Tirans. While I did find it personally amusing - the idea of basing new gameplay associated with the player housing on doing legacy content is a bad design principle. And the converse, new material only, feels limiting at the rate new dungeons or raids drip into seasonal use now. So slow, and simply not to Chris Metzen levels of polish (nostalgia).
I’d comment, 8 post alt, but I have a Live Music rave to get to in Lavender Beds…
You’ll do it because the Sylvanas’ Lost Sofa will grant you a small fractional DPS boost when placed in the sun room.
There is no question housing would drain already limited developer resources.
Ask yourself, would you rather sit in a furnished hut, look around and say, “oh, this is so nice!”? (Housing in a game is really just playing virtual doll house, BTW.)
Or would you rather they fix all the stupid bugs that have been around for years, and fix balancing classes, and make new content?
You cannot have both.
We already tried and you still dont grasp it.
If you dont want the content, do not do it. (How much pet battling you done? Considering you only want to dungeon crawl and feel forced to do content put it outside an instance.) So i ask again, how.much pet battling have you accomplished?
PSA: Your answer is probably be all of it, in which case dont waste your time. It wont get a response.
(Casual mythic raider in a guild withn80 to 100 casual mythic raiders… I still think youre a troll)
I’ll take the furnished hut please. The second is never going to happen. This game has never been bug free and there is no way they will ever resolve 18 years of technical debt. new content will still happen regardless.
i actually do all of it. i have 1588 unique pets and am working towards the 1600 achievement. and as for leveling them i have a pet score of 134,660 putting me at a humble ranking of 2,495th place in the u.s. i am not a competitive person but i do the content.
as for the guild we are casual mythic raiders currently sitting at 5/8M stuck on dathea. we have around 25-30 rotating raiders with another 60-70 casual F&F members that just loaf around and dont raid but are there.
i am horribly sorry for your inability to see anything other than your sad failed troll attempts. i am also sorry that you get so upset when someone else got different views and opinions about the game than you do. its not the end of the world. get over it.
Yes, that is true about new content, but the content would be less in quality and quantity if the resources were to be diverted to PHousing.
Doubtful… After the original engineering, it would be all artwork not development. Even then with the number of assets created over two decades of development, there is plenty of furniture, doodads, and whizbangs to get started.
They already spend time on raids that they expect to be used for 6 months during a season.
That isn’t to say quality can’t decline but I doubt it would be the fault of a relatively small feature compared to all the other stuff that has been abandoned after an expansion.
I never owned a house in Dungeons and Dragons, or really any tabletop RPG I ever played. I guess my Vampire:TM character had a crypt?
I only play mmorpgs because past a certain age there were no well adjusted humans in my area to play tabletop with (all the sane people quit post college it seems), so I just adventure here like I used to adventure there.
I guess what I’m saying is that I’ve never liked housing in the three or four other games I’ve tried that featured it, so either I’d be selling every home item I got on the ah or it’d just be a thing that clogs my bags.
Garrisons don’t count as housing because they were all the same. It isn’t my cup of tea but I think the point of housing is making it the way you want it, and the garrison never remotely offered that. I was mad disappointed when I found out I couldn’t even choose a location for what that’s worth.
Unironically, the housing option.
People that want housing can have a porta john and can customize it
