heres my question…are you actually sincere in your questioning…or is this some veiled insult against those who have seen housing in other games and enjoy it and would like it here too?

Oh no, it is 100% this entirely. There are countless threads, some in very great detail, on why it should be around. It takes 5 seconds to look for them.
Player housing can be a lot of things. They can be social they can be solo. They can be RP or non.
They can be an awesome place to store even more stuff! lots and lots and lots of stuff.
They can also be a nice place to get creative, decorate.
In SWG, my house was loaded up with all the rare and hard to get stuff I collected over the years. I had weapons and armor on display, plus rare oddities (Which this game is running out of by making all gear green drops)
Player housing would also be a great place to conduct business. Crafters can set up shops and make a name for themselves.
There is a ton to do in player housing… IF… IF it’s done right. WoW can’t launch player housing and have it be half-assed. It needs to be well done.
In other games they fill the role of being a currency sink and a space you can get creative in.
It’s such a large topic in WoW that the devs addressed it. And acknowledged how widely it is asked about.

Im not one who pushes for housing, Id use it if they do it right. Certainly if they do I’ll farm crap for it and spend more time playing.
The garrison is actually a nice ‘home’ base now…and if they dont add housing, especially level 2 when you can add the AH, bank and guildbank, etc.
Nice having a hearth for it with 20 minute CD.
I just know that ESO housing is actually USEFUL in that you can hearth to player houses free, so IF blizzard does it right, it could be cosmetic, just like mogs and dragonriding mount mods, and it might have some usefulness too, even if its only another hearth.
Not to mention I believe you can invite players into your garrison?
if they did that with housing it opens up a pretty cool casual RPG aspect. RP players could host parties or something.
What I hate is haters who have to bash on everything. They are miserable people who clearly feel the need to project their misery out into the universe. its not just about the game, they make everyone else miserable everywhere they are…everywhere they speak and breathe. It gets very annoying after a while having to listen to it.

It pretty much just just boils down to this: "I saw it in another game and really liked it so it MUST be put into WoW now in order for them to keep up with “this game/that game” . This is World of Warcraft, not your other game! Go back to your other game if you want a player house, and for those saying “Oh let me get out my GaRiSoN bingo card” you are correct, most of the player base DID NOT utilize it at all back then so why bother now to bend to the “It’s what I want” players demands.
THIS IS MY OPINION of course so feel free to demand I convert to your way of thinking since that is clearly the WoW way now.
Of course it IS WoW. This is a MMORPG, and RPG means ‘Role-playing game’. This is exactly the type of game that would have player housing. Further, by what means have you determined that proponents of housing are in the minority? Has there been a Blizzard sponsored poll that stats there is little interest in it, or is that just an opinion?

We aren’t asking for player housing because we “must compete with the competition!”…we want it because it would be FUN. Maybe not for you…but if done properly, it would be entertaining for at least a segment of the player base. Pet battles, PvP and other features exist that are participated in by only a portion of subscribers, so its not like it would be out of place.
And as you say, this is only my opinion. It would be better if many of us here would stop trying to pretend their biased beliefs are facts carved into stone.
Gods the amount of no-lifing I would do with player housing. I would go to loan sharks to give Blizz money if they put things on the cash shop for things for said house. It’s unreal to me that it hasn’t been done yet in almost 20 years of the game’s life, when they would profit unbelievably with it.

you are correct they make a lot of money, but clearly here in this game, they don’t need that money! I am not trying to be dismissive nor condescending you are taking it that way on a personal level.

To be fair, it is a huge undertaking. Sounds to me like they don’t have the system entirely set up to do decorating, while Old Republic’s engine already had a system in place for the devs to decorate that they just dumbed down for players a few years after launch.
Also, their Strongholds expansion literally was just that: Strongholds. If they did that in WoW, the playerbase would have a conniption.
