I had that originally, but wasn’t sure if I should include it or not since it’s not required to play the resto spec.
Only one i would play is vampire.
I’d definitely play one as well. Would role a female mage. Hopefully their dresses would be accessible; love the silhouette.
Here is some concept art based around the Venthyr.
Some female hairstyles
Some druid form concepts
Racial mount. There are several other options that could fit this role.
All of these options would be welcome additions. Perhaps one could serve as a heritage set. We could definitely use long cloaks like these in game.
Here is some concept art for the Night Fae Sylvar.
Tree form could be one of these
Racial mount concept. There’s a lot of options in game which could be used for this.
One of these could be used as a heritage armor set, or a combination of them.
Really like the way this concept looks, perhaps an option
I like it, sounds fun!
I would love to keep the Soulshapes by leveling a Night Fae. I’ll miss those they are fun.
Agreed! They are really cool.
Here is some concept art for Kyrian.
Some ideas if Kyrian are able to be druids. Tree form is something…love the idea for owls as moonkin form.
Some armor concepts. One or a combination of these could possibly serve as a heritage armor set.
Could always have wing options
Here is some concept art. Love these outfits. Hopefully one day we can sport really long hairstyles like these in game.
If they do become playable, hopefully the Forsworn color palette is also available.
Can’t argue with that.
Personally, while I like the NF races, they wouldn’t really do well when we go back to azeroth in my opinion due to the need for anima and the like.
What I’d much rather see is the screen for creating a character change and instead of the current layout, you first select what expansion the race was introduced (even if not playable) in, from there you then select the race.
From classic we could add in Ogres and naga maybe (naga get 2 pant slots but no boot slot, cause they long and wiggly lol)
From BC we could get Arakkoa and the bandage dudes, etherials I think they’re called?
From WotLK we could get Tuskar, Taunka and Vrykul
From Cata…nothing really as it didn’t really introduce us to any races outside playable Worgen and Gobbos, maybe the cat-taur dudes?
MoP we could get Hozen, Jinyu, Yongol, Mogu, Mantid, and Grummels (Many Luckydo to you!)
WoD we got the Mag’har and the Lightforged, but we could also get the High Borne Arakkoa (low borned being from BC originally)
Legion: idk, outside of demons this didn’t really add any new races, but, we could get a class from it, the Wardens maybe?
B4A: Sethrak for sure but other than that…
I do like your character selection idea with the inclusion of new races based on the expansion of their introduction/relevance. That would make a lot of players happy.
As for this statement here:
Among the Sylvar, Kyrian, Necrolords/Gladiators, and Venthry, the only race that relies on anima to sustain themselves are the Venthyr. None of these other Shadowlands races consume anima as sustenance. So the Venthyr would likely be the only ones that would require some lore to explain how they’re able to keep a supply of anima. Since they are vampires, perhaps they could have an ability similar to the warlock’s Drain Soul. The premise of that ability is literally the same with the Venthry and anima.
I would think they would based on all the fruit and stuff being anima infused as the water in Ardenweald actually sparkles due to the anima in it iirc
I will never say no, to more unique races.
But the Kyrians I am fundamentally against. I mean heck, they have tiny owl people. Why does everyone want the blue winged boring as humans?!
I don’t understand. I’d gladly take the other three though, ignoring the illogical lore.
Literally the only positive to come from the most generic boring race in WoW.
And even then you could give that to any other race with Wings or even Demon Hunters!
You want a blue race? Go Draenei.
You want to be a Human? Go Human, you even got two variants now.
You want a race with wings? So do I! But pick a more interesting one, please.
Yeah that’s a good point. All the flora and fauna in Ardenweald rely on anima from the trees. I haven’t found any instances of the Sylvar consuming anima in it’s raw form, but there is a transfer of anima to an extent, as well as food and drink present on some tables around the zone.
I remember in one of the side quests, there’s a dying Sylvar who tells you to use the anima from a tree’s cone on one of the wildseeds that need it instead of themself, resulting in their death from injury.
If the Sylvar do become playable, I’m sure Blizz could easily come up with a way for the race to sustain/reserve their anima. Possibly from the flora of the environment, similar to what they do now.
To each their own. Certain people will enjoy things that other’s won’t.
I do agree that Demon Hunters should be able to use their wings to fly, without a mount, instead of gliding.
Here is some concept art for the Necrolords/gladiators.
If Necrolords are able to become druids, these are some cool ideas. Really like the tree and flight forms.
Here are some racial mount concepts
Some armor concepts. Perhaps something similar to these could work for a heritage set.
Armor concepts on what looks like the gladiator rig. If the gladiators were chosen, their default armor or something similar could work for a heritage set.
If a new class was also introduced, Necromancer would fit this race really well.
I think you could add the necrolord skins to the forsaken and the venthyr to the elf models.
I’m all for adding the covenant races as skins to existing races, especially if they become a version of soul shapes.
Perhaps these soul shapes could be tied to character progression in the covenants; this could give our characters the choice to transition into representational forms of the covenants we’ve helped.
Right, and if we can take pets and mounts back to Azeroth with us, denying the races the ability to do so makes zero sense.
Can’t have it both ways, either it all can come back or none of it.
So the genie is already out of the bottle, they CAN come back, it’s just getting Blizz to bother with it.
