Just curious, those of you who’s phone don’t work with the authenticator do you know if it is an issue with your phone or the contract you have with your provider?
the advertising isn’t what they object to, it was the fact there were so many it made finding actual groups difficult. Trade chat which was rarely used for anything useful doesn’t have that same affect.

The authenticator doesn’t collect data from your phone and transmit it to anyone.
A phone isn’t needed to set up an authenticator. It’s only needed for SMS protection, which is misleading as SMS protection doesn’t actually protect your account, it just notifies you via SMS about changes made to your account.

You don’t have to change your cell phone provider to play WoW. That is a decision that you and you alone would be making on your own accord
They’re not though. You can still use the feature. You can still communicate with players.
They’re not compromising and anything and you don’t need to get it
You are absolutely correct, it is your right to deny whatever app you choose.
It is also Blizzard’s right to implement whatever security measures they choose into the their game.
The funny part is there are addons out there that do an amazing job out of the box and blocking them. So is people could write mods to do this, what is Blizzard’s excuse for not doing the same within the game. Hell let’s be honest, the entire GF interface is outdated and in need of a major update.

I use an addon to filter out boosters
the more stuff they add to the interface the more things they need to maintain and the more space this game takes on people’s computers so I certainly understand why they don’t keep on adding.
there are too many people in this community who would rather complain than fix their own problems and if there is a solution out there for a problem, blizzard probably should consider ignoring complaints instead of creating problems for other people instead.
Then why in the hell are you trolling the forums attacking players who have concerns?

Either way, this really is a non-issue as a phone isn’t needed to set up an authenticator. You only need it for SMS protection, which can be disabled from the account settings page.

When you promote the offer they provide, and criticize anyone who disagrees, that’s not helping. It’s brow-beating someone into accept a compromising position. You’re part of the coercion at that point.
