Requiring me to pay $30+can a month for an active phone contract on top of the $21.46can I pay a month for access to the servers for a grand total of $51+can a month is ridiculous.
And what makes this all the more worse is I paid for an authenticator back in the day but cannot use it because if the battery dies, the only way I can recover the account is by emailing Blizzard a copy of my gov’t ID, which was not how it was sold to me.
And even if I did use the authenticator I purchased directly from Blizzard, they will not open the bag slots for me because requires a step that cannot be done on their product. And they will not make exceptions to this, despite knowing I will be using the product I paid them money for.
I understand why they are doing it and would be willing to meet them half way by getting a pre-paid cell phone with a dedicated number but that is not good enough for them.
And my sympathy runs a little dry to their situation, given this is just to save the cost of actually monitoring their own dam chat channels.
You know, I wasn’t sure before, but now I am. This is just a giant troll for you.
Congrats, you got us.
When you’re ready to grow up, let us know. Between now and then, get a new phone and stop being lazy about it, or accept the consequences of not doing so.
Are you reading these threads? Seeing what you wrote? I’m posting about a legit issue I’m having with the game and all I get are a bunch of people telling me to just go do what I keep saying I cannot. I’m not the one who needs to mature.
Yes, but they also don’t work to authenticate your account anymore. You NEED the app still.
Then get yourself on a pay as you go plan. Not a contract, but just something that you can pay for up front, and then let it lapse if you’re not interested in continuing to use the phone service. That’s always an option (and it’s the one I use, so I know it works).
End of the day, this is a you problem, one you can resolve, but you’re choosing not to.
This really is no different from when Blizzard updates the minimum requirements for WoW and stops supporting old hardware. It’s not Blizzard’s responsibility to keep supporting ancient PCs, it’s up to you to keep your hardware up to date.
The “solution” is to get used to spending real money to be permitted to play the game. Longterm, you can consider this psychological conditioning, an attempt to push everybody closer to the point where they are willing to spend those hundreds of extra dollars and think it’s perfectly normal to upgrade your household to play the game.
