Phone incompatible with Authenticator App

Then that’s kinda on you, bud. Technology marches on, you can’t expect your phone that’s still running version 2.Potato to be supported forever.

Sure. It’s entirely up to you and a threadful of cell phone salespeople posting here to decide what household appliances everybody should have to buy to be permitted to post a listing for mythic dungeons.

People are not saying that the Authenticator does not work.

What people are saying is that the Authenticator can work (Exhibit A: me, who has had an authenticator on mobile for … a decade or whatever now), but you also need to set up SMS Protect/text messages and that does not work on certain phone/phone plans (Also Exhibit A: me).

If you simply have an Authenticator connected, but your phone is incompatible with Blizzard’s SMS Protect Service, you will not be able to edit Group Finder titles, although you can have a working Authenticator, and a Core Hound pet.

Bad analogy… Having a username and password is a lock, our accounts are not wide open to everyone. So to use your analogy, you are saying that placing locks on all your doors and windows is not enough, you need a home security system as well.
Or you deserve to lose everything in your home… Right?

OK I didn’t understand the part about needing to have SMS set up also. I do have the SMS protect set up on my phone and I went in game and made a group to make sure everything worked for me and it does. I just figured that if you could receive texts on your phone that you could set up the SMS protection for your account so that’s why i didn’t realize you needed it to customize your group name.

See you just played your hand. You are trolling. You are saying its a problem that Blizzard is too lazy for “Legacy Support”? Your computer is old. Your Phone is Old. Technology has advanced so much in that time frame.

I am sorry if you dont currently have the means to buy a new phone or upgrade your PC, but thats the nature of technology. There is no reason for Blizzard to make sure its games and applications are supported on old and outdated tech. They will only move forward. Better graphics that require a better graphics card, more ram and a better processor.

The fact that WoW runs on a 15 year old PC just fine, is a testament on how Blizz trys to make the game work for a large audience.

So in conclusion, I feel you are just trolling at this point. “Legacy Support”. I have to give you creativity points for that.

are you paying? if not go away you help NOTHING

Yes, it does. I run one from a vm running android os.

So, it has. You’d think they’d be able to reliably track down run sellers by now.
The fact is, there are ample new fangled secuity measures they could use, that don’t compromise our phones. They chose the most invasive one. That is laziness.

You are not prevented from posting a listing for mythic dungeons.

True. But you are prevented from telling people you’re not a booster. So you can list, but your listing may be ignored.

Wonderful. Perhaps people will start making threads containing a statement to that effect, rather than the dishonest ones we’ve seen thus far on this tropic.

They have so many paying customers they don’t mind losing some over this.

This would exclude track phones? I get one year service and unlimited text and talk for 199.00 per year from track which is owned by Verizon.

I have the Blizzard Authenticator and have used it since it came out. Don’t really see why they did this.

You do realize that some folks are having a hard time making ends meet? Your response seems very callus and I am sure as a empathic being you did not mean to sound that way.

You can buy a used Samsung Galaxy S7 (which will run the authenticator) for $20-30

I’m sorry, but there’s no excuse to not keep your tech updated. You don’t have to have cutting edge tech. I’m not expecting everyone to have the newest iPhone on the market, but having something relatively modern is more than possible.

Also, let’s be clear, most people have to keep their computer tech up to date to play the latest expansion for WoW, as Blizzard has consistently increased their minimum requirements over the years. So if someone can spent hundreds of dollars upgrading their computer tech to play WoW, they can afford $20-30 to upgrade their phone.

And that is fine for you. But again folks should not have to do get a new or another phone and then pay for a plan just to play this game.
We are not going agree on this. And that is fine.
I will stand with those who are struggling right now paying nearly 175.00 a month more due to inflation. This unneeded changed comes at a time when most folks are struggling and makes Blizzard look like they are tone deaf.

THere is no first amendment rights to property .

It covers freedom of speech (the Government can not come at you for what you sat )
The right to peacefully ( and that is the key word ) assemble and the right to practice or not practice any religion without the government telling you which one.

Correct. It is the fifth and fourteenth. The Constitution protects property rights through the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments Due Process Clauses and, more directly, through the Fifth Amendment’s Takings Clause: “nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation.”
