Phone incompatible with Authenticator App

Correct but the ruling was on suppression of speech on public forums with private owners. Their rights to expression were not being suppressed even if done for a political agenda as the private owner had no obligation to provide them a platform.

Exactly freedom of speech is not protected from anything non government . That has nothing to do with property rights. It has to do with the first and all amendments being protection form the government

considering every seller on the group finder openly posted the website they wanted people to visit, and it was literally the same 2 or 3 sites. But i guess it would cost too much in lawyer dollars to forcibly delete these websites and deal with the names/addresses attached to them.

I guess they will simply move into trade chat now, or use previously scammed/stolen USD’s to buy cheap but current gen chinese knock-off phones to put the app on, and continue as usual

Hmmm, someday I may turn trade chat back on. Probably not though.

People use the app authenticator?

Looks at his ancient authenticator dongle he got a million years ago that still works.

Huh. I guess there is a solution for people who didn’t have phones.

What are u babbling about? I have sms protect on prepaid phone, and authenticator on my tablet.

Why doesn’t Blizzard use the industry standard TOTP authentication system? That would not only allow MANY more phone and tablet devices to use it, but even allow authentication on Windows and MacOS.

I have an old phone not compatible with Blizzard authenticator.
I have a habit to not throw away something still functionnal and i don’t see a reason to buy something that i don’t need just to play the game.

Also considering the goal, this measure is ridiculous as it will not prevent any seller to post. Is Blizzard thinking that the sellers don’t have an authenticator?

What a bunch of idiots if it’s the case, of course they have! I’m seeing right now on the European servers people selling their services as usual in the LFG.

Forcing the authenticator is a good move to annoy most of the player base and i would like that Blizzard publish the number of people with the authenticator in % of the player base, just to see if those who have one are the majority or the minority.

I doubt I will ever have the authenticator installed on my phone. To me, it seems pointless.

I don’t do keys very often. If I do, I join someone else’s key.

If they ever made it an inconvenience to play the game over the authenticator, then I will move on.

I would say relax OP.

How subjective is this term…? My phone is literally 6 year sold… It’s still a smartphone. We walk around with tiny computers in our pocket. It’s not like I’m trying to play WoW by entering 1s and 0s in morse.

So what is relatively modern? Within the past 5 years? Oh, sorry my phone is 6 yo smh. Something is definitely wrong with the mindset of society today.

True, and my PC is out of spec and I’m waiting for the Glitch to come before I have to retire from WoW. I’m saving money for PC, but if I’m obsolete first, sorry WoW…I can still play literally any other game I have with my potato.

Side note: I have a laptop I was gaming on forever because it was a newer i7 from ~2014. I had to stop gaming on that because the graphics chip wasn’t good enough. In 8.3, had to migrate to my beastly potato mfd. in 2005. So much for relatively modern functionality.

My thought exactly. Also, LFG is cross-server so we should all be seeing the same thing (lots of adverts that have clearly authenticated). I never really noticed many adverts before, never cared much, just ignored.

I’m salty when I see them now. GJ Blizz, you guys are AOTC.

It actually bugs out after a few listings and stops prefilling info, leaving you unable to create ANY LFG group.

Nope. arenafans . net and lfgteam . net still pumping the group finder here on Frostmourne-US

Innocent players annoyed and inconvenienced. RMT business as usual.

Now I know you’re trolling since a player above me posted a link to where you can get one.

In case you missed it.

Tired of repeating myself. I was told the physical authenticator DOES NOT WORK. You need BOTH the SMS protect (which requires certain contract carriers) AND the Authenticator App.

Any other suggestion is contradictory to the article Blizzard published. Yes, it MIGHT work for now, but I’m not going to risk it failing in the future. There NEEDS to be an actual solution for this from Blizz devs. Not some sketchy work around.

You said you had an iPhone 5, that’s not 6 years old, that’s closer to 10 years old. The iPhone 5 released in 2012. The iPhone that released 6 years ago is the iPhone 7.

Actually it still does, whomever you are talking through is full of it. It works great, just Blizzard doesn’t offer it anymore. If you can find one, it still can be attached. As for SMS protection, you was given suggestions on how to remedy that,

I’m surprise Apple hasn’t bricked the phone as they normally do for their old tech

exactly as i thought, if people were required to get an authenticator, these people who are profiteering hardcore from blizzard, and likely stealing players bank details/money it wouldnt be hard for them to turn right around, authenticate up and carry on as usual. Only ones who lose were legit players.

it is “nerfing gold value from old raids to stop bots” all over again, cause no human ever ran old raids for some quick change? Of course not

The authenticator app worked on my iphone 3gs back in 2011, I’m fairly sure your phone can actually run it.

Amazon sells them $20 dollars from them.
