I have run the repair option through the launcher numerous times. I’ve completely uninstalled, deleted the folders, rebooted, and reinstalled.
Still an issue. Husband’s system doesn’t do this at all. Additionally, my entire client resets weekly. I’ve stopped using addons altogether, but randomly I will receive a Lua error on login while it begins playing the intro cinematic (which I have disabled…so this is the cue that I’ve got to reconfigure my client…).
Ya you’re right, it’s perfectly acceptable for a company to charge for a subscription based service that breaks for weeks on end with no ETA of a fix in sight. People definitely don’t have any right to an expectation of a minimum quality of service for a game that charges $40 + an additional $15 a month.

Gunna try that battlenet suggestion, I really don’t want to reinstall wow since i’m on a metered connection.

Hung for me as well. Really annoying.
I’ve tolerated this since the prepatch download, since I’d just did a clean install back in September, with just random FPS spikes and delay in loading game assets. Now my sound is lagging horribly, a good 30 seconds behind and suddenly catching up all at once (which is startling if you aren’t ready for it, after having turned up your volume wondering where your game sounds went). Dialogue lagging and fading out randomly and running together in a jumbled mess finally broke it for me as I’m trying to do class campaigns and story quests. Clean install here I come… again.
Hey guys chiming in to say I fixed this by simply uninstalling the game and PTR.
Then reinstalling WoW, turned off automatic updates, and DID NOT install pre-patch data.
And all my issues were solved. Do NOT install the pre-patch data. Just wait to download it on patch day.

Same here. Game was unplayable. Uninstalled everything and cleaned my PC of all left-over files.
Do not allow WoW to update and don’t do it yourself. Works fine.

I’m having the issue of the green downloading content wheel perpetually spinning as well.
I’m not sure if it’s effecting performance, I just had a beastly comp built so I can’t tell.
I haven’t downloaded ptr/beta or anything besides whatever retail things come thru on the weekly.
I’ve tried all the turning off downloads, etc in the options screen but haven’t sent so far as a wipe/reinstall because it’s not effecting anything that I can tell…
I’ve also noticed smaller loading bars at the bottom of the screen after loading a new zone…
Even the forums are acting buggy here.
I dunno…
I was having major freezes/fps drops/wow unable to access graphics hardware/unable to start up 3d acceleration, you name it and the occasional green circle spinning. After rolling back GPU drivers, Windows updates, clean Wow install no change. Finally I changed setting to Direct X 11 Legacy and all problems/lag/circles seem to be gone. I then proceeded to reinstall driver and windows update and still running smooth. Hope this fixes the issue for some other people.
Can we please get an ETA on this fix? Is it coming with prepatch or is it still going to be bugged? I understand that people at blizzard are likely under pressure to fix shadowlands and launch the prepatch but that’s doesn’t mean it’s acceptable to have the live game remain broken with no update on when it will be fixed for your customers who are currently paying for a broken service.

I seem to have have fixed the issue by uninstalling Retail, Beta, Classic, and PTR from the battle.net launcher and reinstalled while leaving all folders intact including the the “Data” folder. It downloading 24 some odd gigs, I copied my “Interface” and “WTF” folder over and I was good to go.
The worst part about this, is that the green circle is not in the center of the screen, it’s triggering.

I uninstalled WoW and all of Battle.net, including scrubbing the left-behind folders, registry entries left over, etc, reinstalled everything and let the prepatch data download, and the circle is now gone for me,.
Tried uninstalling the PTR then running a scan and repair now i’m stuck in a loop of failing scans. weeeeeeeeee.
Any dev update on fix progress? I play on metered internet & didn’t catch data usage till to late. As it is not worth playing due to lag/not willing to take out a loan to re-install wow. Thank you for your time

Blizz, gotta give us an update please. At this rate the game will be unplayable next Tues for me and many others as we’ll be forced to download the pre-patch.

I really feel bad for your experience. However, if you carefully read the forum you will find that a temporary fix has been found and I haven’t had an issue with the game since I applied it over a week ago. Best of luck!
Uninstall World of Warcraft -> re-install the game and unselect automatic updates. Also, when given option to download the newly available patch data for the pre-patch - decline, just download the most recent up-to-date files that the game automatically will and DO NOT DOWNLOAD PREPATCH DATA. Fixed the problem for me. No lag, no problems.
