I had the same problem after boosting a rogue, uninstalled and reinstalled resolved the problem. Boosted a Monk 2 days later and its back. guess im reinstalling again . . .
I’m having the following issues:
-Random Sound Stopages
-WoW completely freezes
-The green download circle.
Its super frustrating to deal with as its crashing me in raid.
any fix to this yet? its really annoying
Managing a game of this size is difficult. It looks like a temporary fix has been found. We appreciate your efforts in getting on this as quickly as you can. We also understand the work load on your shoulders at the moment. Thanks a lot and take your time. Looking forward to the release of Shadowlands Pre-patch!
Any ETA on a fix or is it worth reinstalling?
Would also like to mention disabling audio seems to stop the stutters.
Being an apologist doesn’t help. This is a paid service that isn’t being properly provided for. We deserve an exact explanation of why it is happening and a solution to the problem, if we’re expected to pay for this service. Ultimately, it’s a business and I’m a customer, and I’m not getting what I paid for. The game is currently unplayable for me, and my subscription time I paid for is being wasted.
This. ^
I’m not one to rush into complaining about something immediately not working, developers sometimes need time to fix difficult issues or bugs. But this issue has been going on long enough and deserves at least an ETA on fix, I shouldn’t just have to sit around with a barely playable game until the pre-patch (assuming that will resolve issue) releases on Oct 13…
Still no blue response…? Come on…at least post some sort of update or ETA. It’s been over a week since last response.
I’m also finding the game to be very buggy. Quests from previous expansions still bugged. Huge amount of harvesting nodes bugged. On top of that SL is ruining the game before pre-patch even begins.
Not really making me feel great about spending over 100 dollars on SL expansion to return to WoW after being gone for many years.
It’s good to know I’m not the only one having this issue, but seriously some type of ETA or something other than telling us to uninstall/reinstall would be nice. The game has become unplayable for me since this issue started. My latency is constantly spiking to 2k+, dropping back down to it’s normal 17-20, then spiking up again a few minutes later. I can’t do any dungeons or raids and I can’t even quest on low level alts because I’ll go to fight something and I’ll be standing there frozen in place casting for so long that by the time the spike passes I’m already dead. Every single one of these spikes happens at exactly the same moment that green downloading icon appears on my screen. I’m just about ready to cancel my sub because it’s gotten to the point that the game is just causing me frustration more than anything else.
Alright, so I’d posted earlier that it was only doing it when I was playing WoW in macOS but not in Windows 10. It is now doing it in Windows 10 and it’s even worse than in macOS. I can’t say why it suddenly started doing it in Windows 10 when it wasn’t before. I made no changes to any of my add-ons, Windows was not updated, etc.
In macOS, the green circle constantly pops up, but in Windows 10, it’s consistently a yellow circle (sometimes red) that goes to green after a bit and then just repeats, repeats, repeats. That circle is never not on screen. At least in macOS it’s a briefly appearing green circle that is somewhat less annoying, but in both cases, it is nonetheless irritating.
Here’s hoping the cause is found soon.
Is this actually downloading stuff over and over? I almost went over on my ISP data usage last month, and so far this month 2 days in, im already at 52gb of data used, and all I do is play WoW and watch some shows. This does not seems right. Please someone answer instead of ignoring us.
Yep this started happening to me when I downloaded the PTR for the stress test dunno what’s going on.
hello blizzard any update?
I too have been experience this.
Same here. Completely reinstalling Retail, PTR, Classic, and Beta did not resolve the issue.
Well I fixed the lag and its back running 100% smooth again but still have the green circle saying its downloading something.
I forgot to update my amd driver/sound driver/network driver after i reinstalled windows 10. Atleast its playable again.
Lol you don’t “deserve” anything, what an arrogant thing to say. Service isn’t slavery, you aren’t entitled that blizzard brush your teeth and trim your toenails for you either.
You pay to play a video game. Video games come with problems and glitches. That’s an inherent risk. If you go to a baseball game, don’t cry because you got hit in the face with a foul ball. “BUT I DESERVE AN EXACT EXPLANATION WHY THERE ISN’T A NET RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE.”
Cool, keep getting hit in the face then turd.
I’ve had this since the last upcoming patch background update a couple of weeks ago. A little green circle at the top of the screen “downloading game data”. In addition there has been a persistent yet intermittent sound (effects mainly) lag. For example sound effects would suddenly play from a fight that finished 10 seconds prior. Weird. I’ve never had this issue. This coincided with the patch update as well.
I got hit with this issue after I installed the Beta. I tired to scan and repair and got stuck in a infinite repair loop. So here is what I did to fix the issue. Uninstall Battle.net. Go to %APPDATA%, %TEMP%, $PROGRAMFILES%. Delete Battle.net, blizzard entertainment, Blizzard folders. Any of those you have. Uninstall World of Warcraft. PTR, BETA, RETAIL. Remove in thier install directories. Reinstall Battle.net and then WOW. Some people said this is a temporary fix. So I copied the fresh installation to a separate folder as a backup. So far, so good.
