It’s the beginning of the expansion and ‘common-knowledge’ strats don’t exist yet.
In Priory, I’ve had some tanks that stop at the stairs and others that run up and around the wall to LoS. Healing is always at its weakest at the start of an expac, and if the tank gets to 50% with a bunch of mobs beating on them, there’s no guarantee that the healer will be able to catch up on healing. If the tank drops, everyone else dies.
Can the healer figure it out? Maybe, but a heads-up about what you’re pulling and where you’re stopping saves everyone a lot of guesswork and maybe some repair bills.
It absolutely applies to dungeons because mobs will randomly target close people if the tank runs away, even if those close people are not generating threat.
I think you do know this and you’re counting on others not to. Because all you have to do, is test it.
This is especially true of caster mobs. If their target is out of range they will target their next spell to someone in range, regardless of whether that character has threat or not.
Proximity aggro is body pulling essentially. Which the tank already did. If someone pulled aggro its because they did an aggressive action

Im not blaming good tanks for anything im stating what ive personally experienced plenty of times spamming heroics this last week. Tank mounts up, runs through 4+ packs in a straight line with multiple casters going to a far off los point, dps follow behind get inrange of a caster that was trying to spam the tank and gets targeted instead. Eats some webbolts bringing them low so i have to heal them or they will die, proceed to have all the mobs turn on me.
This isn’t true. You can test this any time you choose. Follow someone while both of you are mounted and performing no actions - only the first person to pull that mob will ever have aggro so long as nothing is leashed (extremely rare in instances) or no actions are taken.

I don’t get why people care in normal and heroic dps can tank perfectly fine

Even without Misdirect, I remember on my Hunter back in vanilla accidentally tab targeting to mobs on the side in UBRS on the Rend fight which then pulled half the dungeon.
and I immediately hit Feign Death so I was fine.
Because its exclusive and irritates people who came to perform a role and DPS who are supposed to learn mechanics are too busy trying to play “esports.”

I’ve clearly stated that my OPINION is that tanks can and DO loose aggro in dungeons and the mobs DO aggro on others. Maybe if you would stop running 1/2 through the dungeon and leaving your team behind you’d be aware of this.
