Legion / Battle for Azeroth/ shadowlands were the only expansions where the questionable decision were decided.
Due to the fact that these three expansions had expansion level systems and borrowed power but I think after shadowlands they are finally calling it quits on these systems in Dragonflight and onward.
Man I dont understand why you Shill so hard for Blizzard. The has is horrible but we still all play it and accept this fact since we have friends/connections that make it worth dealing with all the mad.
The people who view their opinion as facts are the bigger problem with the forums, (and social media in general). Storytelling is just like any other art form, some people will like a story while others will not.
Has classic /TBC / Wrath/ cataclysm/ pandaria/ warlords had anything like artifact weapon, Azerite necklace and armor pieces, and conduits and soulbinds? Warlords was the start of the table system.
If you are this ignorant to the past and stalwart in your defense, I really don’t think you’d believe me even if I went ahead and listed all of these things and provided a flow chart.
Oh really your issues sounds way bigger than anything that I’ve typed up and so type them.
What I just typed up are the most hated systems and when they were implemented people hated them and wished it was iterated on and didn’t due to the design of it was hard locked.
I was recently talking to my sister about the state of Overwatch and its upcoming sequel release, and she pointed out that she doesn’t know a single Blizzard fan who isn’t always hoping for them to figure it out and make the game (whatever it is, WoW, HotS, HS, OW, etc) fun to play again like it used to be. And she’s right, we all yearn for the magic, they’re so good at creating compelling worlds and characters and mechanics that we get drawn into and crave, and then over time the parts we love all get stripped away and we’re left with 2+ years of double-shield meta and zero communication from the dev teams. It’s like they hyperfixate on one aspect of their design to the detriment of all else.
People are allowed to have their own opinions, OP, it’s best that you don’t take it personal. After all, it isn’t like you’re the lead narrative designer.
Your definition of fun differs from other people and you really need to think about this not everyone thinks likes you and not everyone will agree with you and not everyone will play like you.
K, but that doesn’t change the fact that all of this expansion was objectively terrible writing. Every tired cliché and trope was used. We went to the afterlife, the entire concept was laughable from the very beginning. No one with an education in literature could look at WoW’s story without cringing. Objectively terrible things are often popular, see: Fifty Shades of Grey - that doesn’t make them paragons of good writing.
