People seem to love to insult the lead narrative designer

WoD’s story didn’t totally suck… the lack of content was its primary issue. WoD’s story was for the most part ok, even if it was a AU.

They did Sylvanas extremely dirty, starting a little in Legion and going full stop in BfA. Forever salty about that.

I watched the cinematic and it was so lazily done with no love or soul for the game. Sad.

You wont catch me playing retail. Wrath forever.

:dizzy: :rabbit:

what are you talking about. this dude did such a bad job that someone like me who suck at writing now thinks well it cant be to hard to do his job and write a bad story and still get paid. shadowlands was a mess of a story that felt like a last min 3 days without sleep hodge podge slaped together mess of a story with the end being well robots for umm reasons. the direction sylvanas went went from me enjoying her to this is just bad and lazy writing and now i hate her. and the jailer was the biggest waste in wow

It literally couldn’t get any worse. Let’s do it. :sunglasses: First order of business: we’ll need to find the best gnomish engineer on Azeroth.

The sad part is, I’m sure I could do better than the mess that was the BFA/Shadowlands arc. I’m sure you could do better. Hell I’m sure Steve Danuser can do better.

I’d go as far as saying you could keep all the overall story beats for both BFA and Shadowlands intact, and told a significantly better story if it was a story that was allowed to be told properly, and not require a book to be released in the tail end of the expansion try and justify what was supposed to be a central character.

Throw Danuser into in alternate timeline where he is able to actually tell the story properly and I bet we wouldn’t be having this type of conversation.

EDIT: Please note when I say properly, I mean in a straight forward consistent way. I’m not talking about hiding half the plot in a mystery box a decade and some change and then throwing out surprise boogeyman at the end (see: The Jailer).

Step One: Convert the giant Goblin cannon in Azshara to create a new Maelstrom for a giant Hot Tub Time Machine to be heated by the Dragonflights’ fire breath, so the Gnomish submarines can go back in time to fix this mess :stuck_out_tongue:

Honestly, I don’t expect DF to have a better story, it might even be much worse. BUT, I do expect the game might be better overall, because it seems like Ion has had a sudden change of heart and the game design sounds real different this time around. I’m going to keep heavily inhaling hopium on that.

However, the story, people like to give Danuser a pass because he wasn’t lead until very recently. It’s true enough, however he has been part of the writing team since what? WoD? His track record is near perfect failure with the exception of legion (And that is very debatable, legion was a good game but I don’t know if I can say it had a good story).

He also just doesn’t seem like the kind of person who responds well to feedback. Something about the way he presents himself gives me the feeling of “Yeah, this seems like the type who would write off any critique has ‘haters’ or ‘trolling.’” I think he is the kind of writer to slowly diminish a fanbase and find any excuse why it isn’t his fault. Hell, he might even see him publicly insult the fanbase in the future because that would just be par-for-the-course.

His archetype is bad, rich, Californian writer, and I think he will remain a bad writer.

Hope I am wrong though.

gamers don’t really know how to criticize anything without suggesting that the person who created it is a horrible human being who should be fired, ostracized, etc.

normal person: “i don’t really find the mona lisa all that appealing. it’s fine i guess, just not for me”
gamer: “this artist was clearly a horrible person. if i was his boss i’d fire him. let’s start a petition to have his name legally changed to Idiot Badpainter. let’s start a website ridiculing his family”

I see no issue with us waking up at the end of sl and finding out that nzoth was actually the accusers lover and was tricking us into believing everything since cata was real so they could go on a honeymoon together. Seriously anyone who doesn’t think this a better plot than insert expansions i don’t like here is just a paid shill.

Yeah, at this point I don’t care how corny the explanation is, I just want the game to stop doing what it’s doing.

Funny, we basically did an Endgame in Dragon Soul.

On this note, I want Caverns of Time: Day of the Dragon.

I’m trying to find more information about it but there was a career open for lead narrative.

:red_square: :diamonds: :red_square: :diamonds: :red_square: :diamonds:

worse than the fate of Gallywix Bob Goblin disappeared as well as the company president in real life, Azhara really made him an decoration and to level hordes from lvl 1 up or lvl 10 up when there was no level squish in Shadowlands.

Without forgetting that they eliminated a lot of good content that was going to be in the future of the game like a DOTA-style World pvp or the MOBAS that we know.

Garbage post lol. Past performance creates expectations, good or bad.

Could Grand Empress Shek’zeer have actually been a good girl, leading the hive mind against the old gods, us having awoken the klaxxi then being in the old gods service, her queen status over the hivemind then being what allowed her to act as a tether between realities, constant glimpses of the doubt found in her underlings corrupting her in its own unique way.

Maybe then the only reason garrosh was sent back in time (by nozdormu ultimately) was because he needed a spirit strong enough to create a tether that the player character could utilize as well, similar to how brox, krasus and rhonin were sent back to the war of the ancients, and then conveniently we can access such a place via the caverns of time. This points to time magic being related to the shadowlands, or at least requiring a shadow in order to enable the player character to access realities which are wavering in the ultimate truth. Did Jaina even look for rhonin in the shadowlands so she could thank him… what a stanky ho.

I don’t need to be an award winning author to know when a story line is bad. I mean just look at the last season of GoT…

I wont lie, legion/release-bfa sylvanas was really interesting for me, (maybe bc i’m a big sucker for faction conflict) then mid bfa they came with the stupid 4d chess and stupid bs.
