I do expect the game might be better overall, because it seems like Ion has had a sudden change of heart and the game design sounds real different this time around

i 100% believe this is happening because even he realizes if they give us 3 bad expansions in a row its the death of the game or at the very least retail. and with microsoft buying them hes gotta be trying to justify keeping his job. i know that everyone i have talked to has said that df is make or break for them. if its bad they will play wotlk classic or just ditch wow all together for something else

I have a hard time believing they would ditch WoW, the brand is still too valuable. I can believe there would be a serious shakeup in leadership though.

Your appeal to authority is noted. Previous content quality tends to impact outlook on future content. If the writing has been bad for several expansions, it’s easy to predict it will continue to be bad without personnel change.

He also just doesn’t seem like the kind of person who responds well to feedback. Something about the way he presents himself gives me the feeling of “Yeah, this seems like the type who would write off any critique has ‘haters’ or ‘trolling.’” I think he is the kind of writer to slowly diminish a fanbase and find any excuse why it isn’t his fault. Hell, he might even see him publicly insult the fanbase in the future because that would just be par-for-the-course.

He strikes me as a full on delusional narcissist who probably delights in the smell of his own farts and believes everyone else surely must enjoy them too.

I have a right to critique and not like a movie, a tv show, a song, etc, doesn’t mean I have to be better than them. That is just stupid.

And I’ll ask this how can you know it’s going to be worse or equally as bad as shadowlands without going through it (yet?)

If you sincerely think that the shadowlands story was anywhere near as good as what we had in Vanilla, TBC, Wrath etc. then I don’t know what to say. What you’re basically saying is something like. “People think X person is a bad doctor cause he left a few pieces in patient Y’s stomach. If they think that they’re so good, why don’t they try doing surgery themselves?”

I mean narratively WOW deserves criticism… they’ve been mediocre with a few somewhat bright spots since WOTLK. They aren’t a talented bunch… I am hoping narratively that DF is better, my expectations are low but I am hype for DF none the less due to talent trees and how things are looking… will be trying beta more when I get home, only got to check the enh tree for sham.
