Pathfinder is killing WoW: Either give us flying or get rid of it

I honestly don’t mind Pathfinder. I’m returning but I remember the WoD grind and it was much worse than the one now. Do I have it? No. Is it killing my game? Also no. I’ll get it when I get it.

The one thing that /would/ be nice is having it released earlier in the expansion. Allow people to get it right away so that the people who really want it can get it. I don’t care if other people fly before I do. It’s not a race. But I think it would definitely make a lot of people happier.

For me it actually was flying. Prior to BC I only played on PvP servers. In vanilla I could see an enemy coming on the ground and have a second or three to decide what to do. In BC I had so many level 70’s drop from the sky and one-shot me in Hellfire Peninsula that I transferred the two characters that I cared about to non pvp servers (this is one of them) and have never played any version of World PvP / War Mode since.

It takes away the enjoyment of anything that isn’t strictly necessary to getting off the ground.

The same can be said of Azerite essences. Just one more thing I have to grind to stay relevant.

Flying should just be available for butt loads of gold. It’s the easiest fix to this stupid problem. If Blizz doesn’t want it immediately unlockable at the beginning of expansions then they should just wait until the first major patch after each launch to allow it.

I couldn’t agree more! Although I love the rich, beautifully developed new zones, I HATE being forced to walk, and grind out rep. I finally got flying but really, I should have had it all along.

I’m surprised there is such negativity to a novelty the content provides. As though the masses are developers, program managers, animators and programmers.

Wasn’t Jungian concept of a collective unconscious disproven over 100 years ago? Not really a pop reference.

This is the 3rd xpac to force pathfinder, hardly an immediate response (though admittedly I was complaining in 6.2 when they… ahem… lied to us).

You’ve got to do away with this mindset that no flying == no sub though. The game already doesn’t have flying. They’ve tricked you by making you wait for until the expansion is over. Outland was designed for flying. It’s huge empty zones with pieces you can only get to with flying. This in between nonsense is much worse than us either going back to that, or going back to Vanilla. WoW without flying or Pathfinder is a much, much better game than what we have now.

For people that don’t want flying in their game , Classic will be here in late August. There’s no reason to remove a popular feature just because they don’t like it. Just take away the timegating and this problem goes away.

All I hear about is how fast people are going to get Part 2. No one wants to be stuck on the ground while everyone else is flying. It takes away the enjoyment of anything that isn’t strictly necessary to getting off the ground. I can’t even enjoy the two new zones because I’m so focused on getting everything done and on schedule to unlock flying ASAP so I can get back to leveling my alts, which is what I really enjoy.

So please, either give people flying or take it out. Pathfinder weighs too heavily on people’s minds and makes the game not enjoyable and limits our choice in play. It’s just a giant time gate that makes these arbitrary rep grinds feel like a slog to the finish line when we should be able to pick and choose what rewards we want to go after.

The core issue is that this very basic desire is being used to replace real and meaningful rewards. If you can’t get people to want to play without Pathfinder, something is wrong. This is the WRONG carrot for content.

Nope. It isn’t ruining the game. Pathfinder isn’t going anywhere so maybe time for you to move on. Hope you don’t plan on playing Classic either because you haven’t seen any real grinding until then.

I love Icecrown Glaciers and Storm Peaks but I think flying needs to go or just made for RP purposes for specific zones like Vashj’ir is for water mounts.

There is nothing wrong with parhfinder, and what you wrote is entitlement.

No, I do not hold the belief that I am “inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment”, which is what entitlement is. Pointing out that Pathfinder was poorly executed does not fall into that category.
