Does this include flight masters?
No. It really does.
Lateral progression leads to a fractured playerbase, which is something that will kill a game.
Just look at Left 4 Dead. It’s a great example of what fracturing your players will do to a game.
L4D was doing great. People were making new maps for it, and a good community was forming.
Then instead of creating an expansion pack, Valve decided to invalidate L4D by making L4D2 a sequel that had zero crossover with the original.
Overnight the community disappeared as people were split between playing the new one, but also going back to play the original as L4D2 didn’t really introduce anything new. Just a new story and new maps.
L4D on PC died overnight as a franchise when it could have gone strong for a while.
It’s why the rumors of “Overwatch 2” are scaring the hell out of me.
Don’t ever fracture your player base. Just don’t do it.
Your being obtuse further proves my point. Flying = one of the many awful decisions that led to the downfall of wow
Classic release timing starting to look very purposeful and thoughtful at this point
Great post OP. I would also like to add allied races to the list of things I’ve felt obligated to grind without actually playing the game, for weeks and weeks. It’s been ridiculous, qnd the pathfinder/allied races timegate grindwall started me down a cycle, spending most of the time unsubbed and then coming back to grind out those things I really want…all while wishing I could just run bg’s or go hang out with friends…but I can’t not have those things. Drives me nuts and makes me mad
Not really.
People asked for it loudly enough. Blizz would have been stupid to ignore it.
It’s the rule “The customer is always right”. The idea isn’t that “you should always let the customer walk all over you”. The idea is that if you make blue widgets, and the customer says that they want red widgets, you will best serve your business by figuring out how to paint your blue widgets red because that’s how you will sell the most widgets.
People have been asking for classic for years, and the cries have been getting steadily louder and louder.
When they get loud enough, you bust out that can of red paint because to do otherwise is stupid.
yes because everyone knows running for 10 miles out of your way and back again just to reach a ledge that was too high for you to reach and training 500 mobs behind you that aren’t vital to your quest or destination is truly immersive
I agree with OP. Why bleep off the players every expansion with this. Either bite the bullet and get rid of flying or let us buy it at max level.
I guess that’s a “no”? Asking a question to clarify someone’s position isn’t being obtuse.
Further obtuseness proves flying was a terrible idea.
well they tried that the players let them know big time how bad a decision it was and as for the second one they don’t want to go back since it completely undermines their entire vision
at this point it seems to me like the development team would rather see WoW crash and burn rather than accept that flight was not the problem it was all on their end for being unable or unwilling to actually design the content to handle and integrate flight from the beginning
I’m starting to think teaching vending machines how to argue in game forums was a worse idea.
Further proof flying was an awful idea. Let me know when you have something of substance. I’ll wait while you flail about.
Pot - kettle
Swapping characters further proves my point.
?..
Guise, this thread is for us to band together to say we want something other than Pathfinder. Arguing flying/no flying gets us back to where we started.
Ya can’t full the man with the glorious beard, ya can’t. Scientifically proven that the more glorious your beard, the smarter ya are.
He thinks you’re me.
Well, there is that. Mine fall out to quickly to raise the ol intelligence.
