I have gone through this again and again, and I cannot understand what the issue actually is - so because there’s rings that people have to move through, that’s why?
Because you don’t have to use mouse and keyboard for it (watched folks and tried it myself, you can do it with just your mouse its generous enough where that’s more than doable, especially if you consider changing hotkeys to the mouse as well)
Whenever I look up folks talking about it I keep seeing two things:
“Won’t you think of the disabled”-posts, aka. folks talking for others saying these problems will (or in this case, does) exist
People who have issues with it explaining how they are issues and how there are solutions to it or that they have such disabilities wherein they can’t do it at all to which Blizzard added the whelpling system (which I dunno if that works or not, should do though as I have tested other stuff like races with it and it partially works on those so should work on a quest like this)
And furthermore, as was pointed out almost a year ago at this point and has been pointed out again and again since then:
(Not linked directly to the post as I don’t know whether one should or shouldn’t refer to since long inactive threads like that but that’s the entire quoted text for clarity through and through)
If there are systems that enable people to play the game, and there are ways around it (to which I will refer to an interview done with one of the blind raiders as to “How do they do world quests/questing” to which they answered, they don’t; this is assuming that one’s disability is severe enough where you can’t play the game on your own which seems to be the level that gets referred to most of the time) - then what quest is there that one cannot use any of the solutions to complete?
Because if the disability makes it more difficult, then sure - but that’s why one can do it as many times as need be and one can take whatever time one wants to do it at, one can ask for help, or one can go and do other quests and then come back to it
So sure, the quest seems to be required for the achievement - having looked into it doesn’t seem to be blocking the main quest chain though so, I guess there’s an achievement that requires you to do the dragonriding tutorial to get it
I am looking, I am desperately looking for anything to indicate that I am wrong or have misunderstood something but I am finding nothing
So by all measures, it doesn’t seem like dragonriding is an essential quest regardless of however it being marked in the quest journal or by a quest-meta achievement
So unless I am misunderstanding something, this is still not a problem
its possible, yes.
Burning all ones Vigor with Skyward Ascent to shoot straight up, then aiming in the direction they need to go and gliding down at a slight angle just to keep from stalling works very well. You can get a long way and by the time you get there you should be recharged to full Vigor.
yeah, its easy enough. but some folks are still having trouble with DRing anyway.
and its pretty rude…and a few other descriptive words…for anyone to come in here insulting and attacking them, when those ‘anyones’ have had flight since day 1 of the expansion and LITERALLY have no dog in this race now anyway.
The renown requirement shoudla been like 2-3 for all of them not 15.
This is why people bail out on the game. These devs are beyond stubborn about keeping boring crap in the game that most dont want.
To be fair, If i recall correctly those courses are pretty much a straight line from the Ruby pools pillar to the rock or the next area where you customize your dragon, no twists or turns or obstacles to dodge.
If they needed gold on an advanced reverse course i could see it being impossible.
I suppose i feel like these types of players are the same for me and LFR. i dont do LFR because i just donʻt want to, No matter how Im told its easy and anyone with a basic amount of competence could do it, and i probably could do it i just donʻt want to.
I donʻt blame anyone but me.
Oh so more ableism, Ok let me prove my disability to you random forum person, (not that anyone normally asks a stranger for their medical info, but i’m not a “ReAl PEOPle” to you so I get it)
I am not the only disabled person but in my case I have to either choose between
A. Looking, unmedicated, requires vomit bucket I CAN NOT GO TO THE CAVE ZONE WITH MEDS, SO IF YOU SEE ME THERE I’M HUNCHED OVER A BUCKET
B. Taking Meclizine to get my symptoms under control, the side effects however make me unable to steer… not to mention so drowsy I end up dead to some rando mob out in the field somewhere as the antihistamine properties get me out cold. (Do you need doctor statements too, sorry my being disabled is so inconvenient to you)
C. Literally shoot up to the world ceiling, aim towards mty destination ping and then leave the computer (Very Immersive)
ALL THIS BY THE WAY BECAUSE BLIZZZARD WON’T TREAT THEIR DISABLED PLAYERS THE SAME AS THE ABLED
Yeah, its mostly the renown thing that would irritate me if I were waiting for normal flight, especially if i were new to the game and just now starting the expansion and had some trouble with DRing.
A couple renown might not be too horrible for those 6 or so groups.
I am still confounded why we get DRing day one for a questline…the main questline so literally what we’d do anyway.
Then normal garbage flight has to be the same damnable controversy…again?
I hate dragonriding. It still causes me some motion sickness even with all the settings. I can only do it for a short time then I have to stop. So I haven’t gotten renown 15 with more than one faction. It feels like a slap in the face to be forced to grind this to get a slower method of flying than what they gave everyone for free.
Glad we agree on the only point I’ve been making. Its how I manage to deal with my own “issues” and I have yet to have anyone tell me how they can play the game but can’t hit the up button. None of the others are needed. You don’t even need to successfully recharge in flight, I usually fail to. Sitting on a rock for a minute or two to recharge is hardly a blocking issue.
Ion himself should have announced this kind of thing in a video.
He could have done just that and been looked at like the hero. Instead he chose to play the villain again. lol.
One thing i hate is being someone so interested in human behavior. Always digging in deep into unspoken motivations.
This dev team would keep a Freud working full time to figure it all out, lol
Right
And my point was very clear.
Even though its ‘easy’ for you and me to do that…some are still having trouble.
And its NOT your place OR mine to judge them on the matter.
Fun fact, I am too
I can even name my disability - neurological pain causing issues with my nerves from an albert chiari malformation; I have had an operation for it so it ain’t bad, but the issue with neurological conditions like these is that they are tricky and never really go away
Its honestly astonishing that ya’ll love to make up stories about people and then cry “ableist” and gaslight people, sorry if I kinda doubt your sincerity when you do that
I said this in another thread… Dragonflight is like riding in a 747, sure it is fast and gets you from point a to b in a fast manner, but it lacks the finesse of traditional flight. You’re stuck in a smelly cabin with people who put their feet up on your arm rest.
Traditional flight allows me to take my time and soak it all in leisurely. I can roll down the windows and breath it all in, or even stop. It is the journey that I’m in for, not just ‘getting there’…
All I’m hearing is, “I refuse to believe people with disabilities have problems.”
Greetings. I’m one of them.
And yet supposed solutions didn’t work for everyone.
They can just not have Pathfinder for flying in an expansion where there’s already flying.
Also: Blizz devs already conceded that there are still issues for people with disabilities and dragonriding and that they’re trying to work on solutions.
You done trying to dismiss everyone and keep an archaic feature that doesn’t make sense?
