Party wide twink XP debuff 8.2 .... WHAT?!

On the original xpoff post I asked about it and they said it only went into effect if you spoke to the npc to turn it on then back off, is that what you did?

Not sure what you’re asking here.
I had 4 friends along with me.
What I did was turn exp off on PTR. I invited one person to my group and queued up. Other 3 queued up by themselves.

When we arrived in our dungeons (The nazmir one), all 5 of us had the experience decrease debuff, meaning that it effects everyone you get matched with.

I can’t check to see if this also happens when you do BGs by using the exploit macro, as I’m too afraid to use it, and cant get BGs on the PTR.

If you character copy a twink right now I believe you don’t get the blindfold buff so the aura won’t effect other people. I was asking if you did turn it off on the ptr or did you just copy the character over.

Like I said after that, it allegedly only affects people you personally invite to a party. So my friend and I group up and queue for a dungeon and he had his XP off. I get the debuff but the other 3 people from the queue do not.

Im not going to sit here and argue over something that may or may not be true. It honestly strikes me as a waste of time so it doesnt make sense. If it doesnt make sense then it usually isnt true.

That’s not how it’s working.

Oh sorry, I turned my experience off on the PTR.

Well, theres conflicting reports then. I would imagine blizz is now aware of the scope of things and they will act accordingly. We will just have to see.

insert obvious blizzard will mess it up joke here

I wanted to make a joke, but is it even a joke anymore?

Yeah because a smaller player base is a good thing.

You also have to understand that it is the PTR and is subject to being bugged.

I would imagine that with all the uproar over the last two days about this that we will get official word about it soon™.

What’s fun about doing nothing while another player solos an instance for you? This was an exploit, plain and simple, and needed to be fixed.

Like I said before in a good xpac like legion it’s a non issue
but a mediocre at best xpac like bfa it’s the worst thing ever.

;TLDR; Leveling faster so we can play the current game is fun. Getting a massive nerf to XP gains because of someone else’s actions is just a terrible solution to a problem that is honestly born of this absurd mandatory level grind before alts can participate in current content.

Blizzard… do you not take the 10 minutes to consider unintended consequences? Congratulations, you’ve now given twinks yet another way to grief on people who play the game the way you intend by applying the punishment to people other than the twink.

This whole situation is made possible by severely broken scaling mechanics. Seriously, the fact that characters feel weaker and weaker as they level up until you get high end raid gear is the problem here, not your players.

Punishing players for finding creative ways to level faster in a way that allows them to turn around and troll others is, without a doubt, a BAD IDEA!

Now you’ve created a situation where on my leveling characters I have to watch out for an new obscure XP nerfing debuff while doing random and if I ever decide to make a twink character for any reason I’m basically going to be stuck playing solo.

Personally, I really don’t understand why Blizzard has to be so damn focused on making everyone play the game exactly the same way. This is how you kill your game and lose your player base.

Focus more on making fun and engaging content! Build systems that encourage people to play with friends and random pugs rather than punishing the unwary for the actions of a handfull of power-leveling players…

Better yet, just change your mindset all together. What you are doing and hinting at doing to this game is just damn counterproductive. People will always want to reach the level cap faster because that’s where the current game is. When I’m leveling alts I don’t give a damn about whether I get shiny new things every level or every 5-10 levels, the levels don’t matter!

Please! Pull your head out of the sand! No two people are going to play the same way and nobody wants to be chained to a ridged “You must play our way or be punished” dev mentality.

Take a lesson from Bungie. I hear when the next Destiny 2 expansion launches new players will be able to join in on current content in 15 minutes and nobody will be locked into grinding through all past content for the game.

Why do we still need to grind through old content to get new alts to current content? It’s tedious. If I want to try out a new roll and don’t have $60 to drop on a level boost, well there goes [whatever current average] hours of playtime just getting a new alt to the point where I can even try out a new roll with my raid team.

Floating the idea of squishing levels after having squished stats and scaled the world, and now this nonsense of punishing players for running content with a twink in their party whether knowingly or not… you don’t understand the real problem here.

Time is a fixed resource. In exchange for our time and our money we expect a fun experience. A 95% exp nerf because someone brings their twink to a party is not a fun experience. I don’t have a twink, I don’t knowingly play with any twinks, but the mere potential for me to que up for a random dungeon and find it’s being run by a party with a twink on it and severely nerf my leveling progress is enough to make me just not even try to level alts. I’m not willing to deal with that and I’m not spending any money on level boosts because you broke leveling with this nonsense.

I can’t believe I read all of that, but I agree 100%

So that’s what you were typing. I was curious. But you said it best. Either play the blizz way or not at all and it’s killing the game.

Then where is the minimum IL requirement for m+ to prevent the 280 IL 120 from buying his 10? This change is just going to push more people that want to sell a service into selling 10s/AotC.

This is 100% blizzard seeing their game played not how they want us to play. Imo twink boosting was not a bad thing. Helps economy going.

  • The problem is not twinking but scaling… Why not fix the cause instead of the effect.
