Well, how long should going 110-120 take? Because this approach is like 2 hours, so its clearly faster than anything reasonable for the game. Aka, this more about abuse than bad design.
Terrible design being abused on a daily basis
This isnt really focused on the overall population. Its about blizz and twinks who sell boosts.
As soon as they make 120 boosts available, it will not be an issue.
Now that Iâve had time to cool off, itâs just going to be if youâre PARTIED with a Twink, right? As in grouped and in queue together?
I almost agree with that under the assumption that the non-Twink should know theyâre along for the ride and then XP isnât their primary goal.
But 95% seems excessive.
Someone who actually tested it after talking to the experience npc to turn it on then off again it would give the debuff in instances
95% does seem excessive, maybe they should nerf it by 25% more on top of the XP loss when grouped in general?
I figured it applied to all content but what I mean is:
Player 1 is the Twink
Player 2 groups with Player 1 and they queue for a IE
Their queue pops and they zone into the instance with Player 3, a random.
Player 1 and 2 are punished, but NOT Player 3 because heâs not in the same PARTY.
I hope.
Currently it doesnât look like it works that way.
From the 110 twink discord, this is not the case. Everyone in LFG (Including people that didnât group with the twink) have EXP reduced on the PTR.
Time will tell if Blizzard will correct this. If not, twinks have an easy way to force Blizzard to change it by trolling groups for months.
15 min Queue.
5 players gathered.
Proceed to inspect every character.
Oh, 111 is 250ilvl, is a twink.
Proceed voting to kick.
The twink was a tank and get kicked.
Wait 15 more minutes for a tank.
40 min dungeon.
The ones thinking this affects twinks make me laugh.
Uh oh, the twink queued with two people and wasnât kicked!
Oh but, durr instance â party
So instead of recognizing the issue is the time required to level and the inverted power scaling from 110-120, they decided the issue was players using the inverted power scaling to their advantage to power level each other using 110 / 111 characters?
How about fix the scaling so 110s donât play like god mode while 119s feel like lowbie characters slogging through classic with missing slots and greys?
Also why not make incursion XP more in line with Legion invasion XP, as a faster leveling alternative for those with alts?
And bring back 300% RaF along with 300% XP potions - it is a joke to have XP potions added back to the game, yet only boosting XP by 10%.
The text of the buff could refer to its INTENDED mechanics, but its the PTR so its just their first attempt. Given the QC of the game lately, it probably will go live like this. I expect Iâm going to be having some fun âcarryingâ people in low level dungeons for a while
You donât get world quests until you hit 120 and complete a quest.
The fact of the matter is that the tooltip on the buff specifically states that âSomeone in your party has chosen to no longer gain experience.â It says nothing about group, so what it is actually referring to is if you join up with an XP off player in a party and then queue for an instance, only the people in that particular party will get the buff.
It just doesnât make sense any other way.
If you werenât here yesterday, it was âOh itâs been tested! It only works if you que with a twink in a party, not the instanceâ with nobody actually testing it.
They should be nerfed. But not near 100%.
Blizzard went the wrong way with this one.
I think they should have nerfed the experience by 50% so itâs still worth being carried. And it should only happen when itâs 2 people. There is many smarter ways to go about doing this nerf.
Its also unclear if it applies to only BfA content or to prior expansions as well.
I know Iâm a bit of a minority here, but I like level locking at old expansion breaking points to finish content at level - running legion dungeons for profession quests is good example. Or locking at 60 to work on lore master and repsâŚ
I mean, taking my word for it is the same as what theyâre doing
I did however, check it out. If anyone wants to see an example of it in action you can send me your btag and Iâll show you on the PTR.
Its cool that Blizzard left a way for us twinks to protest by ruining everyone elses experience gains in dungeons. Its a shame you have to be obstructive to call attention to your cause.
