i mean, you wanna know what other specs do a ton of passive healing? healers.
herald of the sun you sacrifices way to much st priority damage for a spec that lacks prio damage in keys to begin with.
also judging based on heroic dungeons is meme, im sorry but its gonna be extremely disappointing when season goes full swing without any tuning to the spec
again secondary stats wont make he rlad perform just as good as templar, yall just need to sim instead of mindlessly stack stats
Have you actually read the HoTS talents and played with it? Itās at its most valuable while you donāt have high stats. Huge buff to your DS crit and last time I checked, mythic+ single target is far less valuable than AoE.
Itās literally tailored for mythic+ and works pretty well together once you have all the talents unlocked. Yes, your healer is your main source of sustain but I shouldnāt have to explain how good it is to have a passive secondary source of healing.
Not sure what else youād want for mythic+? Passive healing, damage/healing buff, speed boost to party and debuff to enemies, juiced hammer procs, Stronger Divine Storm, Holy piercing beams and spreading a burn DoT to AoE.
When you get into Mythic+ where trash actually takes more than a few seconds to kill, HoTS provides far better sustained AoE than Templar.
who ever told you that st prio damage is ignroable in m+ is a idiot im sorry. bosses exist in keys and having ret do tank damage and making those bosses last 5+ mins is a detriment
also while you are correct with herald doing more sustain aoe, templar isnt to far behind and offers far more. according to me and others testing 11s+ in beta, the difference is night and day
im sorry but once the season starts and people get geared, herald is gonna fall behind and hard. hell it doesnt even scale with mastery for some reason
That is the complete opposite of my experience on the beta. Iāve spent a good amount of time playing both and when your tank is actually pulling big and trash lives longer than a few seconds, thatās where Herald of the Sun starts to show itās power.
Keep in mind, Herald of the Sun had some bugged talents up until the last Maintence reset, Templar did as well but the bugs were primarily affected Herald.
You build your Ret tree a little different too, if youāre playing Herald, you are assuming trash isnāt dying fast, aka Mythic+. You want to take talents are more effective for high HP mobs.
If things are staying alive long enough to get the full value of your Beams and DoTs, Herald is hands down the most effective.
If youāre doing content where everything falls over (the pre-season) or Raids that arenāt more than 3-target cleave, Templar will always be significantly better.
Bosses arenāt going to last 5-minutes with either spec. Thatās not a thing, Herald isnāt completely useless on bosses either given the nature or how you configure your Ret tree for content that Herald gets utilized best.
You can configure your comp appropriately anyway. Bring an Arcane Mage to complement your Sun Ret for boss damage. Arcane does as much ST damage as two Paladinās when they pop off anyway.
But why ret when there is fury, assassin rogue and frost dk or an all ranged comp with way more utility and great damage profiles? Ret is so broken at the moment that there isnāt even a workable sim for it.
Nah nah nah you see, ret has tuuurbo aoe damage and offhealing. Toootallly meta material
What is broken about Ret? Theyāve fixed most of the hero talents afaik.
Yes, letās definitely not bring the best AoE classes to mythic+ LOL
My understanding is that some of them donāt scale at all. So we arenāt seeing it now during heroics.
Until we are neck deep in m+/raid or we get a sim profile everyone is just guessing at this point.
This shouldnāt be a surprise to any long time ret player. We have always been the low level content kings and queens.
We arenāt really guessing. There is a ton of recent beta footage on YouTube from Ret players displaying them keeping up with Arms and WW which are two of the strongest in M+

Been playing Ret and prot since BC, not changing now just because the forums and elitists donāt like it.

Imaging thinking you should base the strength of a class ābecause of something you saw on youtubeā instead of the countless log averages.
want to give this poste 100 upvotes

i agree iāve been playing my pally as a main since BC to, im not gonna change because the forums and elitist dont like it, if they dont like they dont have to play it im sticking it out who knows we may get a buff
and tbh this only 1-3 weeks in to a new expansion and we have a ton of improvements yet to come

I do like 1m dps per dungeon run at 580, depending on dungeon density. Im hearing skill issues honestly. ābut beta this and beta that.ā Nonsense i say. Git gud scrub
Thatās normal for overall, but the issue is the ST dmg for bosses is low for Ret.
AOE is high for Ret, ST is low.
Iām expecting a nerf to AOE and a buff to ST.

I have been hitting 700+ consistently with full cds and 450-550k without. crits be damned
i should say coming into the fight with everything available. not like having WoA be on a 10 second cd. Its all tank rng tbh. The pulls we get matter for the stacks of light or whatever. if you can consistently go into a boss fight with your hammer of light proc ready or close to it, the damage stays really high. That is my experience with it.
Well yeah but other classes iāve seen come about to 900-1.1 mil, mages, warrs, dkās, shammies to name the most consistent ones.
Iām calling it by comparison.

Somebody needs to pay more attention to the beta logs to see what the averages of other classes look like lol
