I think there’s a loose theme to what gets to be on “top”.
I don’t think they do it so that people reroll to keep them playing.
No matter which classes I play I’m still playing the same game, I’m not becoming less bored of it because it’s a different class, in fact most of the time it’s actually the opposite, I get bored more because I have to relearn something that I really don’t feel like relearning
At least to me, that’s how I experience it.
Clearly and without the shadow of a doubt, there is a period of time where the tuning is more frequent and more important and that moment is in the first month and a half of the new raid coming out.
There are some exception, such as when they release over the holidays, but otherwise that’s how it is.
Now that doesn’t mean they stop altogether after but it’s much less likely that you’ll see sweeping changes the further in a season we are because there’s inherently less things to tune as they fixed them the weeks before.
Now do you wish to challenge that fact?
Because if you do, it’s not worth responding to the rest.
I haven’t even purchased TWW. Instead I’m enjoying some other games for the time being. I hope Paladins get some love and buffs one day, so we will no longer be the ugly duckling that no other classes want to play with.
I agree.
Stoopzz had reminded them in an old video that such “balancing strategy” can work for games like Overwatch, where players simply switch to a different class and have a fresh fun experience.
But in WoW, where it takes so much time and effort to level, set up, learn, optimize, and become proficient at a different spec, rotating the “FOTM specs” from season to season is more likely to encourage the disadvantaged specs to AFK, rather than to encourage them to reroll the FOTM specs.
From the beta logs I have seen it looks like ret is right around the bottom of the top 1/3 or the top of the middle 1/3 in raids. Assuming this info is not outdated, that is a pretty good place to be. High enough to be respectable and useful, but low enough to avoid the headsman’s axe.
Ya i didnt say that at all ur reading comprehension is dog water. I said i dont play dh cause of the race choice. Didnt say anything about them being worse then pally.
Dhs are great and are def in a better spot in tww than pally for sure. I just dont play one cause i dont want to play a dirty elf.
I still watch lvladens videos and see some.issues with paladin in pvp in tww but im sure itll get ironed out in the first few weeks on tww.
You just said Paladin is your most top played class when you’ve been playing DH since Legion. My reading comprehension is fine. Your ability to make sound choices isn’t.
Blizzard historically never gets balancing right. Did you forget about shadowlands covenants and what a mess that was? We have hero talents now which is arguably WORSE and its only common sense that its difficult to balance a new TREE than it is one ability.
Cute that you think classes won’t get left behind and everything will be fine, you’ve obviously forgotten what its really like with all that copium you’ve been huffing.
Wrong i said the only time i mained dh was in legion. I played it got half a patch in bfa snd then shelved it for farming old content. Ive mained paladin every expac for at least 1-2 patches. Especially cause its easy to do open world content. And all my reps and garrison progress was on him.
How does someone who mains paladin and claims to have their finger on the pulse understand so little about how its poised for TWW?
You need to look at some more logs before you go about spouting your opinions.
But don’t worry, I’m sure they’ll fix it and not leave it canonically in the dust like they did with holy for multiple dragonflight seasons… right?
I think i get it now. You and me are talkijg about two completely different elements of the game. Ur talking from a mythic plus and raiding atmosphere right? I dont care for that. I dont do those content at high ends nor do i care about my pallys performance in them. Im talkijg about open world questing, fightijg elites in the open world, and bgs. All of which ret is notorius for being great at.
I dont know of blizz will fix paladin in pve content. I always thought we where middle of the pack or lower in mythic plus and raiding. But im sure theyll fix paladains numbers so in open world or pvp bgs they will do good.
Wait. You judge the merit of a class based its ability to word questing and elites in the open world? Content literally any spec can do ? What an odd way to draw a distinction on whether or not your class is keeping up with others but sure. Picking the class with subpar damage and one of the worst mobility would actually make it a BAD candidate for these kind of content you enjoy.
As for PVP… ret did well last season, but it isn’t holding a candle to other classes that had some areas of their spec addressed. womp womp
I pvp on live. Was just doing some BETA testing on my favorite spec RET, and my possible next main Frost DK.
So…did some beating on the training dummys in SW with the two similarly TWW geared, Ret at level 80 has FV doing about the same damage it does now at lev 70 on live, while Obliterate is actually Obliterating with 1.2m- 1.5m crits.
Again, I pvp so I dont benefit from many specs being viable. In fact if just one spec was god mode Id reroll to it and hope it stays that way. Still seem the variance in damage output + survivability + CC protection and removal + mobility favors DK over Ret 10 fold.
And you’re absolutely right. As I mentioned DK is extremely strong across multiple specs. Frost is asboluting destroying other plate specs and Blood is currently the best tank spec. Which begs the question. Why is one class allowed to have MULTIPLE overtuned specs in first place while other classes have multiple specs at the bottom?
Good game design can and should balance these things. EG: If prot is the worst tank spec (which it is), then holy or ret should be S+ to make up for the short comings.
This expansion has multiple classes with multiple specs situated at the very top (DK, Mage, Evoker), while classes like paladin, druid (every spec except resto) and rogue sit very far away.
