Overwolf is a cancer we cannot allow in Wow

Sitting in discord for about 5 hours a day, at some point it burned in.

Had to disable it, which is really inconvenient for discord I’m unfamiliar with voices in.

that sucks, not that i run into it often but it’s nice to have 2 monitors for reasons like that lol

The discord overlay always got in the way for me, so i turned it off.

“The problem is Overwolf has a very well known history of putting more than just ads…”

do you mean adult content or? because thers no viruses

Dual monitors is so nice. Having to go single monitor feels like losing an arm or something lol.

Best part is that the second monitor doesn’t have to be anything stellar. Currently my second is a 2560x1440 ASUS IPS monitor I picked up off of craigslist for $150.

Lol, my second is a 21 in 1080p asus that i got for free.

Are you talking to yourself again Murphy?

I don’t have a second. Nor does my crappy desk have room for a second :frowning:

wall mounts :P, obviously doesn’t work if you’re not some place you can modify your home

wouldnt any website be able to host addons?

idk why it has to be only one.

if one sucks another one should rise.

I’m legit sharing a 6 x 6 ft room with my husband with our computers. No room for mounts either

To my knowledge, it hasn’t happened yet, but one of the concerns is that Overwolf will start going after devs who host their addons independent/on github/etc and pressure them to try to corner the WoW addon market further than it already is.

The amount of future crime in this thread. What’s next? Is overwolf going to require players to use addons?

This Overwolf situation reminds me of why I was always just managing addons by myself.

There’s a lot of defense of faceless corps too.

The point is to reduce the possibility of any kind of abuse to an absolute minimum, because unscrupulous ad-driven companies will do just about anything to drive eyeballs to their ads.

Ouch, that’s a closet! My wife and share a 12x12 room and even that seems small sometimes.

Don’t use it.

  • Use an alternative download site like WOWInterface, even has its own client.
  • Ask the addon authors to move or use Github.

Issue is with that, most of the major addons are out of date or missing from there. I checked yesterday. Plater for example is still in the 8.2.5 version.

I’ve heard nice things about the wowup.io client. Very lightweight, like how curse client used to be.

Problem is that Overwolf is threatening the makers of Wowup and other similar managers that use Curse as a backend.

The addon authors will go where the players are…
