Overcrowded Realm Update – August 21

true enough, I work until midnight on launch but my friends all cant play until the weekend likely, so if I can get in its to get my fishing skill started

I imagine its because less people in general want a pve server, if only blizzard actually released thier info on this to comfirm their thinking…

some transparency would b nice

Oh my, I throw away money all the time.

I also decide for myself when to do it. Since you suffer from so much buyers remorse, I just thought you didn’t realize there is a refund system.

After 15 years since the Vanilla release, Blizzard is still incompetent. I’m surprised.

Why are they incompetent. There literally doing eveything we are asking and care about our opinions. They just want us to enjoy the game. Find me a better development team for classic if you dislike them so much?

“Overcrowded Realm Update” Lack for foresight… Multiple hour queues expected… My friends have already made their choice of realm, we’re not moving.

The incentive is to avoid long wait times.

Don’t want to see any complaints.

That’s your choice but if you’re back here complaining about queues in a couple of days there will be no rats’ behinds given.

Did you actually read the entire post? If one simply wants to avoid long queue times, and do not care about their names, they can create them on release day, leaving the reserved named toons where they were initially created.

Again, if you are not retaining the names you reserved, there is no incentive to move from the full realms.

NONE

At 11am on release day I fully expect nearly all of the realms to spike to full, as 5 hours before the game launches those 47 remaining slots will open. What do you imagine the servers will look like at that point?

I read it.

It’s rhetorical if to “move” means deleting characters on the previous high or full-pop realm to create new ones elsewhere or if you leave the old characters and just make new ones on lower-pop realms.

The motivation remains the same: to avoid lengthy queues.

I resubbed early for my name, and I was more than happy to move off of Herod and Whitemane. On Skeram, I was able to secure all 3 names I wanted.

Blizzard isn’t forcing you to switch servers, they’re just urging you to for your own benefit. If you want to wait out the queues in the full servers, no one’s stopping you. So stop crying to Blizzard for a better solution, this is the one you get.

A real CRYana, amirite?

I really think there needs to be more than just Bigglesworth and Incidius realms being offered. Those are rookie numbers. Every realm is still full, and those new ones will be full within 20 minutes once people see 10,000 people in a queue thats thousands of hours long. You should double the amount of servers that you have already put out. Sure, some players will fade off, but think how many more are going to come once people get a taste of it and tell their friends to come play again. Or more people hear about it and give in… Not like this post is going to make a difference, but I remember when this game first released and queue times were over 1200 minutes with just 1,000 people in queue. GOOD LUCK!

What do you think will happen then? Do you think Blizzard will add a couple more, because that’s what I think.

That is the proper move. But, knowing the history of Blizzard, they may wait until after launch. They did release two more servers because they were blown away by the amount of people coming to Classic, but that’s putting a bandage on a gun shot wound. You’re gonna need a lot more realms to alleviate this server population issue. In original Vanilla, if you remember, many realms were merged together, and people were also given the option to transfer their characters to select servers for free. (maybe the two were related). They have the ways and means to make this easy for the customer, but at the end of the day Blizzard is about their bottom line ($$$) and not customer service.

You forget with server merges there are LOTS of name conflicts. So what happens to those with conflicts? first come first serve? what if youre both using name from classic and its extremely important you keep them???
While it’ll suck for first 1-3months as people try out the new Classic, Blizzard is right, most people wont be staying so they’re better off having packed ones now and normal size later, than normal now, then merges and drama that follows.

Looks like we’re gonna get queues no matter what server we get. The only Mediums are RPPVP and look, if I wanted to get curbstomped as a lowbee, I’d go to EVE Online.

I’m on Pagle (1 char) and Bloodsail Buccaneers (2 chars). Pagle is Full and BB is High so at least I got a shorter queue for BB.

I’m actually happy to see this. I was wondering if Classic was gonna be a niche thing but it looks more like a Exodus To The Promised Land.

EDIT: Didn’t know about the new servers:

|Old Blanchy|Normal|Pacific|
|Westfall|Normal|Eastern|

being added. I might reroll a Pagle character onto Old Blanchy since I’m on the East Coast. The Left Coasters are still working when I’ll be logging on.

Skythe I’m not sure if you ever played vanilla but the reason people are seeing high or full servers and are wanting to join is because those servers will have a stronger community therefore better chances at finding groups for quests and dungeons. More guilds with large player base. More world pvp opportunity. Just all around better classic experience.

How could they allow that when there’s others on full servers trying to also move, who might have the same name as you? This has not been well thought-out all the way around. I rolled with my guild on Atiesh, and it was low and finally medium for several days. Then it was high and now full. Not fair to charge for name creation and later say to move to a different server.
