Other than convenience, what argument is there for RDF?

they can’t fix servers, they havn’t fixed server since classic launched

RDF was at least a solution to those facing server capacity issues, dead server or dead faction. now they have no option but to transfer when most decent servers are locked

I don’t like role playing a town crier. I subscribe to this game to consume content. RDF is a proven tool that we know works. Wrath was my favorite but “spirit of classic” BS will probably drive me away before it’s time. I’m not here for a chat room.

agreed, i dont think anybody here thinks LFG is a bad thing, i think both tools can coexist; but to remove RDF to “protect social experience” is beyond delusional for people to think is a justifiable reason to do so.

RDF is superior but adding in RDF essentially kills LFG. It’s the superior option to finding a group and getting there, therefore the anti RDF crowd want no part in having to use a lesser tool to play the way they prefer. They want everyone in LFG, they don’t want to lose 90% of their player pool when forming a group. Therefore I don’t see them coexisting, LFG would jus become a useless tool.

Exactly. It’s unimportant to you. Insignificant. Irrelevant. I like manually forming groups and I’d rather see that as the status quo. You view it as unimportant, which means it’s an irrelevant part of the game in your view.

So you’re agreeing with my perspective on this. :stuck_out_tongue: I feel like you want to disagree with me, but I actually understand the pro-dungeon finder perspective pretty well.

Re-read. I’m talking about traveling to the dungeons, not about “being a means to an end”, whatever that means.

I played nothing but DPS throughout Vanilla and TBC and I only ever had to wait longer than 40 minutes for a group 4 times. Mind you, I form my own groups, which mostly fixes the perceived problem of taking hours to form groups.

Off-topic. Are we talking about implementing it for the greater good of people on dead realms? Or are we talking about implementing it as a popularity vote? Both are valid points of discussion, but I don’t see how or why you went from one to the other.

Haha. I’m not sure how you expect me to take you seriously.

some people might use both, LFG to preform parties, RDF to slam out world tours.

No. Forcing a time consuming behavior by removing a core feature is not better end result.

People who do not want to actively social in game, which is a large portion of population, either a) only do dungeons with friends/guildies now or b) not do them at all.

Actually, Blizzard is a first company who ever does that.

From humanity aspect, the quickest way to stop people from doing something is forcing them doing it against their wills.

From coding aspect, if a core feature is removed, it means that feature is seriously bugged, which is not this case.

From marketing aspect, if a core feature is removed, it means the company wants to create conflicts to users and therefore create user need, so that users buy their other tools to fix it.

even a person with IQ Of a monkey will realize that rdf removal doesn’t protect social experience. i don’t want to be salty but really…those anti-rdf can’t comprehend the simple facts.

RDF doesn’t take this ability away from you, nor did it take away the “social experience” in doing just that.

how about we talk about how removing it to protect social experience took a monkey brain to come up with that reason?
RDF isn’t going to ruin you manually forming your groups, especially not with your friends/guildies, it even encourages it by allowing you to preform queue.

Of course they can, the question is if they have the will to give up on monetizing transfers.

the answer is they aren’t going to

Where is your source to any of this? Seriously, I like to see your source?

False, and I mean, extremely false.

CRZ wasn’t introduced until MoP, and was a feature nobody wanted. Blizzard added it on there own excuses, and not because of the community.

Wrong. WoW was at its highest and best all through out WotLK and started decaying after the release of Cataclysm.

it’s okay we already sent them to bed and tucked them in already its past their bedtime  spot on post though it takes a monkey brain to come to the conclusions they do, did, and will continue to.

Was it really the RDF that was the downfall of WoW? Cataclysm had endgame content issues and there were other more appealing MMOs which led to decrease of WoW player base. RDF was not really the cause neither in late WotLK where it was introduced or Cataclysm.
It seem like someone just decided to choose RDF as scapegoat and blame everything wrong with WoW over more than one decade to be fault of RDF.
I recall the true downfall was in MoP, not Cataclysm which at the launch had better sales than WotLK despite the fact that entire plot of the Cata was possibly building upon the misunderstanding of Mayan calendar which some explained as prediction of the end of the world.

While RDF is not crucial feature, and people can play without it, I remember using RDF for leveling up alts while learning the mechanics of the class I decided to try out.
That’s something you completely skip when you purchase the level boost and people are offended when they get kicked out of dungeon because they are not familiar with the class they are playing or still in the process of reclaiming the lost expertise with the class they played over decade ago, or learning the differences between retail and classic. You name it.

I actually believe that current Dungeon Finder tool is better solution for endgame content, but it’s kinda ruining it for leveling alts.

it really wasn’t, trolls that have no excuse will cling on to that when they can’t rely on blizzard’s reasoning due to logic. it’s a constant circle of bs they peddle to justify blizzard’s actions of changing the original game.

Just wanted to leave this quote here. Nowhere has RDF ever being added was a mistake.

We’ve seen a few threads that suggest that we’re too proud to admit mistakes. I find that logic strange, because we do it all the time. Example one: we reverted the 10x honor from Tol Barad pretty quickly. It was a mistake. Example two: Heroic Strike is too dominant an attack for warriors. That was a mistake. Example three: the Lich King Heroic dungeons (and Naxxramas) were too easy to zerg, setting up an expansion-long expectation that purple gear would come easy and often. In retrospect, that was a mistake. We don’t at all view the Cataclysm dungeon and raid balance as a mistake.

i joined tbcc pretty late, when i finally got to 70 and wanted to do heroics (after getting my keys) for badges and some upgrades finding a group to do heroics was honestly a pain. either nobody was doing heroics or i was expected to already be geared. :
it doesnt rly help i play at weird hours of the night, too.

i worry the same thing might happen late in this xpac too. ppl will no longer be doing as many heroics once theyre all geared up and have the badges they need which will make things harder for new players.

idc if we dont have rdf now but it would be nice if it comes out when wotlkc is reaching the end just for the sake of people joining late.

Join a world tour group then

OP asked for reasons “Other than convenience…”

I read 60 answers. Nothing other than convenience (and insults) were provided.

OP has indeed won this debate.

Which is really strange because, even though I’m mostly against RDF, even I can list a reason that isn’t just convenience.

Seems like most (not all) pro-RDF people just like to whine without giving real answers.
