Other than “feeling special,” why do people care if others have the same gear as them?

I am waiting for the inevitable Sunday thread where they want their forum time to award them gear in game…

Mark my words it will come!

It’s weird that you keep repeating this but haven’t once displayed any semblance of empathy for people who don’t want what you want and want something different, and calling other people hard headed.

You want things you feel you are entitled to. Other people are disagreeing.

Because they’re doing far harder content that requires more time, effort, skill, and devotion. Thus they get the better rewards. This is how literally every system of gear works.

It is an ego thing for casual players. They want the gear, they don’t want everything else associated with getting the gear. They want to be just as powerful as the most dedicated players but don’t want to dedicate anything. They feel it’s unfair that they’re weaker.

And yet it’d still be gear wildly more powerful than anything they’d ever need.

IT doesnt. The single piece of best gear comes from torghast layer 1 if you want it too.

One of the hardest things about doing harder content is finding capable players. Not everyone can kill mythic raid bosses. Not everyone can hit 2200 rating. Not everyone can clear +15s. The “roster” boss has long been the hardest boss in this game and the real guild breaker.

As it stands, if you want to get that gear and progress beyond a certain point you have to do the grouped activities above. In some fashion.

As soon as you do not have to, some people won’t. Lowering the pool of players. Preventing people from finding capable players to do what they enjoy doing to progress.

That will affect people no matter how much you want to pretend it doesn’t.

Player A: Why is Player B an elitist, how does me having full 233 gear for doing a jumping puzzle hurt the game?

Please. You guys have been told numerous times in the dozens of threads you have started on this subject why it’s bad design for an mmorpg. If you’re not smart enough to understand it at this point then I don’t know what to tell you

Ah, so you were just arguing last night for the sake of arguing, got it.

But they do need it. Because not every guild is Limit, not every guild raids 4 days weekly, and not every guild brings the top tuned specs. Because people have lives and they can’t no life mythic raid. So gear has to help them. My guild still barely beats the sun king cloak dps check sometimes and we are like average 220 ilvl.

Is this a real rebuttal? You honestly don’t think that in an RPG that harder content should result in better gear? You should ask that same question of yourself.
Why you deserve the same gear for hardly any effort. You don’t need that gear plain and simple. So why do you want it?

Diluting already diluted gearing systems so you can be on par with people who put in objectively more time and effort than you is silly.

Ok since you wanna make real life comparison, let’s say I work and save for tWO years to afford a Tesla. The very next week my neighbor WINS a Tesla, does that make my Tesla feel any less special? Do I feel the need to go berate my neighbor for the audacity of getting something without working for it, earning it, deserving it?

You keep saying “what they need”.

Why do you care? Mythic raiders dont NEED the higher ilevel gear either. Lets snapshot what mythic world first raiders had for ilevel and that is the max mythic raiders can get.

Since it was proven as a 100% FACT that you dont NEED an ilevel higher than what limit and echo had to complete the tier. You shouldnt get access to anything higher ilevel. Remember - this is YOUR standard. So I am sure you would be happy with it, no?

Hey guys. I just picked up this game uhh Legend of Zelda? Someone told me about this thing called the Master Sword. Why isn’t it in my bags already?

Thats kind of funny because your legendary isn’t even fully upgraded. Why are you even arguing for “casuals” when you are 9/10H yourself? You are in no way a casual.

Because the gear is a reward for all the work and effort we put into the game. If players who have no idea how to play the game and only play casually and have no knowledge of the game outside of an extremely narrow, entry level position, then it feels bad because we work astronomically harder and longer.

You still haven’t actually provided a compelling reason other than your own personal ego so you’re again being hypocritical.

They also proved you could do it if you spend ungodly amount of time, attempts, effort, and put your life on hold until it’s complete. They also get the best gear in the game and have to beat the content with literally no wiggle room whatsoever.

So do you think casual players that only do world content deserve better gear that they don’t need, even if they’re bad at the game, to beat the sole content they do? Then why do you think players that aren’t as good or willing to ruin their real lives to clear Mythic don’t need the gear to beat the content?

Except your entire argument is an emotional argument that goes against all game design.

New day, same old tired thread topic. Effort = reward.

It’s very simple. People that claim they play high end content because it’s challenging, really are only doing it for gear. So if the same gear comes from world quests, they will no longer be able to do that challenging content because their “meta” will say doing world quests will be the better method of gearing.

This, in some way, will ruin the game and kill WoW.

Its the same people who take out school loans and then complain about paying it back. Like what, I have how much in loans? How did that happen.

But I cant find a job with this History degree.
