It’s a near constant argument of casuals (however you define that) wanting better gear and hardcore players saying they don’t need it for what they do. Now keep in mind the really really good players, like world first guilds, could obviously care less about what is noobs have. Why do the people right below that care?
Again, this isn’t about what is scrubs need or deserve, but simple WHY do you care if I have the same gear from world quests that you get from M+15
If it’s because it makes you feel less special that is certainly a mindset problem. Whether I have 150, 180, or 220 gear does NOT affect your activities in any way.
And if you’re going to ask why I do want better gear, “to do the stuff I like to do faster,” is my answer.
Other than “feeling special”, why do “casuals” want the same gear as high end players?
I know you answered this question. But I am choosing to ignore it. Just like you are choosing to ignore the answer to the question you are posting.
If you don’t understand why destroying the entire RPG aspect of a gear progression game can be bad. I don’t know how else to explain it. As its been explained a million times.
It’s not exactly unknown that many people want everyone to do that same amount of work for the same rewards.
How would you feel if you went to college for 4 years to get a degree, taking harder classes each one. Then later, people were given the same diploma for taking months of 100 level courses over and over. Does that seem equitable?
I hate the “Gotta have a bigger boat than my neighbour”-attitude.
I have never understood it, and I frankly find it petty and pathetic.
However, I also think work = reward.
No work = no / close to no reward.
So if I do a +10 mythic, I expect to get more than if I do a normal dungeon.
(for example).
… BUT! I also feel like it’s a game, so tbh in the long run I also do not care.
It’s super hard to explain.
I just wish hard work would give reward, as it is now it doesn’t feel like that.
It’s all timegate and casino, with really poor odds or even unexplained ones (See Tahonta mount or legion appearances)
In the end, I just want people to have fun.
Fun usually invovles being able to get things.
I hate when things are removed or made unobtainable - and I hate when they make things casino.
Oh well, guess I am just a dinosaur / alien and do not belong in this world humans have created - cause this is something of an issue outside of gaming too.
Things are complicated and frankly quite bad.
I think they should just get rid of levels and gear altogether. We should one shot every enemy and boss in the game with all of our abilities cause having goals and getting better and stronger to achieve them and having challenges is stupid. I mean I pay 15 dollars a month to play the game. Everything should be handed to me on a silver platter with strawberries and dacquiris on it.
Why do casual players need gear on par with people doing the hardest content? That’s always the rebuttal to those who demand that they get the same gear without doing the same work.
You don’t need it. You just want it. Whereas in the case of Mythic or high keys, the gear is needed.
In terms of mentality, it definitely devalues the hard work and effort of the people who get the gear to do the hardest content, and it absolutely makes the game shallower.
The reason you have to use the sarcasm is because you don’t have a good answer.
Any answer you have will revolve about why YOU deserve BETTER gear because you do “HARDER” content. As if anyone cares what content you are doing except you and your friends.
No one thinks you are special for mythic raiding or for getting higher ilevel gear.
Casual players just want to play their form of content and get better gear for it because it would be fun.
You can still do your chosen form of content and not be affected at all.
The most Important thing In my Opinion Is that the game doesn’t play like a pay to win. Not that It Is exactly. But a run of the mill person should be able to enjoy going against an Elite player who has the Gear, with a chance. Not that they will win ultimately. But ensure It’s not a Turkey shoot and regular people can have fun too. Like how a game should be IMO. If I lose fairly I still feel good.
To clarify this Is how I feel the Casual RBG system Is right now. Just whoever has the most gear destroys all who doesn’t
Would the “casuals” who are mad that VP is a M+ exclusive currency be mad if VP wasn’t called VP, but rather called Residuum?
Cause that’s what started this entire argument, “casuals” not being able to make use of VP.
And I use “casuals” in quotation marks, because there are plenty of casuals who can run M+ despite people trying to push the narrative that all casuals do is WQ’s and similar levels of content.
You dont NEED the higher ilevel gear either. World First raiders completed the raid with a lower ilevel score than most of the current guilds completing mythic raiding(and its easier now too).
They proved its not REQUIRED.
It turns out though casual players want better gear for the same exact reason mythic raiders do - because it makes the content easier, funner, and more efficient.
If you had bothered to read the first post I answered, I WANT to do things faster. No I don’t NEED it.
Alos you don’t NEED higher gear, I’ve seen people run +15 in some pretty crappy gear but I assume you WANT it to make it easier and faster? So we both kind of want the same thjng.
Just because the absolute best players who are willing to do absolutely degenerate things (seriously, look at what they do during launch week of a new raid) can do it doesn’t mean everyone can do it that way. Especially those who have normal working and family lives on top of being Mythic raiders.
We need the gear because we don’t want to spend absolute ridiculous amount of time and pulls while still being able to get it down. You don’t need the gear because there’s so much leeway and wiggle room in the content most casuals do (up to and including low-mid keys and Heroic) that gear is definitely not contributing as much as just basic understandings of mechanics.
You can get all the gear that drops in the content you do. That’s how it works in Mythic, too. The gear is often way better than what was needed to clear the content, whereas the same isn’t always true for Mythic.
Eh, I see what you’re trying to do here, and ultimately, sure, it doesn’t really matter because all gear gets outdated anyway. But if we’re speaking in the moment, it matters because it completely eliminates the notion of harder content providing stronger rewards. That’s all. Which is something this game, and every similar game I’ve ever played, is heavily based on.
Why would people DO Mythic + at all or raid at all if literally no other rewards came from there except a single title and a mount? Those are both 1 time rewards.
I can tell you’re basically trying to belittle the notion of “feeling special” but, uh, this is a video game, ‘feeling special’ is right up there with subjectivity world with “having fun”. Beating hard content and getting respectable rewards for it is how some people “have fun”. So by letting a level 1 sheep drop the same gear as Mythic Sire just eliminates the fun for many people. At its heart, this game should be fun.
If you only have fun by plowing through super easy WQ content with extremely OP gear, well, good think 197 cov gear lets you do that and pretty much makes world mobs trivial already.
If you want to do things faster and easier, do the harder content so your normal content is faster and easier with better gear.
The difference between you and I is that you want gear that is better than the content you’re doing while still doing that content, whereas I want the gear that is for the content I’m doing.
