Other than “feeling special,” why do people care if others have the same gear as them?

honestly, I couldnt care less what other players have. I dont mind if they have everything I have.
When I get to the point that a video game is what makes me feel special, someone please put me out to pasture, lol…or in a home.

To use your example, people don’t want to start with level 100 Pokémon but they want the ability to level them up however they want. You can level yours in about 10 hours by always fighting other Pokémon at your level and fighting other trainers… meanwhile if someone wants to grind wild level 5 ratatta for 1000 hours they have that option.

So you make a great point, the system people want in WOW is already in Pokémon which is a highly successful game series, thanks for supporting us.

You most certainly could out gear people with templates. My mw monk and fury war couldn’t be killed in random bgs because I had a flat 18% stat bonus on everyone else and was able to one shot a few people with way of the crane on monk and single handedly beat down the majority of the enemy team with 3-4 buttons on the warrior because templates were passively giving me huge bonuses over everyone else.

Pokemon isnt a MMORPG.

Changing WoW into Pokemon would be drastically changing everything about WoW.

This just confirms many things.

Maybe WoW is not the game for you, since you seem to dislike a core aspect of it that has been around since inception.

You’re completely missing the point. You’re basically asking for more things to be handed to you for minimal effort.

You already have decent ilvl wq rewards as well as anima upgrades and honor upgrades, is that insufficient?
You might as well just play a single player game with cheat codes.
Your logic doesn’t apply to an mmorpg.

For the record, I am a casual, I just happen to enjoy a progression based system that doesn’t hand things to you for barely any effort, it has nothing to do with feeling special. And wow had always been this at its core, has nothing to do with elitism, this game isn’t for you.

If you’re not raiding, pushing keys, or pushing arena cr. You don’t need 220+.

Especially to complete

faster.

Period.

To take away the rewards from high end content & redistribute it to the most basic of the games content, devalues said high end content. If players on mass do not have a sense of something to work towards, or a proper rewards for challenging content - that content dies, thus the player base along with it.

Congrats, you killed majority of the game so you can do your WQ faster.

Let’s be honest, you don’t want to have 220 gear to complete your basic content faster. You want to feel special, too. Just without the effort.

I’ve never said they wouldn’t be welcome in my raids. Even now getting 194-203 from WQs and callings would be fine for casual groups like mine.

The problem is you not understanding “work” as it’s being used. “Working” for gear means things like raiding, m+, PVP, which are very fun for a lot of people. If you do whatever pet battles required to be good, you’d be “working” at it too. Stop acting like people are talking about hard manual labor. Everything we’re discussing comes from playing a video game for fun.

They almost had the system perfectly in BFA with titan residuium. All I would ask for is the same comparable gear from residiuim from a vendor in SL and then give the currency for doing almost anything in game at max level. For the more difficult stuff make it give more currency. For world quests make it give 1-10 or something. For higher levels of Torghast or M+ or high end pvp or raids make it give more. Then make the costs per ilvl reflect the items value so for example you would have to do WQs for a solid month or two or six (whatever the numbers are to make sense) to get a single max level piece.

End of problem. Everyone in the game has access to the same gear. Difficulty rewards the gear faster. There is a path to grind it with easy content. Everyone except the esport ilvl gatekeepers should be happy.

Of course this will never happen because it would make almost everyone happy but it would reduce “engagement” and remove rng. People would only do the content they liked and if there wasn’t enough of that content cough cough then they would have lower numbers.

okay, quick point here: gear in raids is not intended solely to serve as a reward. it’s also intended to act as a progressive nerf over time. the degree of that nerf is designed specifically with the raid in mind. it makes no sense to apply that same “curve” to other content.

All of the answers on why certain people think they are the most important players in the game because of the type of content they do are variations of “because my content is HAAARRRDDD WAAHHHH” and then they cry in the corner like babies at the fear of someone else getting equipment of similar ilevel.

My argument is simple. Dont be babies.

I mean, they kinda do, which is evidenced with how the gearing structure is currently laid out.

I’m trying to figure out who you’re referring to with the phrase “certain people”? Are you talking about casuals who want high ilvl gear to kill mobs in the Maw and do WQs?

While I don’t really care about what gear other folks have, I also think gear rewards should be commensurate with content completed, either by virtue of difficulty or time-invested. Casuals and folks who enjoy solo content should have a means of gearing, even if it takes five times as long as someone running keys and raids, though I’m not sure why they’d need it for WQs or farming mogs from old raids.

But again, I don’t really care what gear others have.

Don’t be babies.

If you want rewards from certain content, do the content.

Don’t whine until the rewards are moved to easier content.

Why is it so hard for you to understand in literally hundreds of messages where you’ve said exactly the same thing in a variety of different ways that a huge number of people who play the game have no desire at all to do that content. They would rather quit than be forced to do it.

For them this game has no gear progression at all. “Too bad do the content you hate or accept no gear progression” is your argument. It’s kind of rude and pointless to tell people that.

Trust me. I get that.

I mean.

If you refuse to do nearly every bit of content at end game, you have to accept you will not get said rewards.

Great you’ve made your argument. You can walk away and be proud that you told the filthy people the way they play the game is wrong. Their opinions on how they want to change the game is wrong and that they should just shut up and not voice their concerns. Literally everyone here understands your thoughts at this point.

Now you can stop posting. Enjoy your free time.

If they hate the content then why are they even playing?

End game content should always reward the best items, mounts and gear. It always has outside of BFA that gear was so messed up it really broke the game as a whole. If your not willing to do the content then don’t expect the reward. Deal with what your earn. Your not entitled to anything.

I never said this. Stop being dramatic.

Voice your concerns. Just like I am voicing my concern that WoW should not be destroyed.

I am well aware you would like an echo chamber. And how much easier it would be if just no one disagreed with you.

I just wish you could maturely participate without making up things about the people that disagree with you.
